Nestled on Martha’s Vineyard’s tranquil waterfront, Coop de Ville promises both an aesthetic and culinary treat. The ambiance, coupled with their expertly crafted wings, offers an experience that is distinct and memorable.
Wing Flavors Breakdown:
3 Mile Island: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ • Flavor Profile: This sauce is a masterclass in achieving the perfect equilibrium between heat and depth of flavor. Its layered composition gives an initial spicy punch, followed by subtle and savory undertones that make it irresistibly moreish. • Consistency: Strikes the right balance, ensuring every wing is uniformly coated without being drowned.
Jamaican Jerk (Wet & Dry): 🌶️ • Flavor Profile: Distinctive for its blend of spicy, sweet, and savory, the Jamaican Jerk here leans away from the excessive sweetness often associated with this flavor. Instead, it presents a well-rounded taste experience that echoes authentic Caribbean flavors. • Consistency: The wet version offers a glossy, rich coat, while the dry gives a textured, seasoned exterior, catering to varied preferences.
Suicide: 🌶️🌶️ • Flavor Profile: Contrary to its menacing name, the Suicide offers a delightful heat without pushing boundaries. The flavor is robust and rounded, making it a choice pick for those who appreciate spice without extreme intensity. • Consistency: Sufficiently saucy, ensuring each wing is enveloped in its rich flavor without becoming soggy.
Cajun (Wet & Dry): 🌶️ • Flavor Profile: This is where southern charm meets the wing world. The Cajun offers a peppery and smoky taste, evoking the rustic flavors of Louisiana. • Consistency: The wet variant provides a moist and tangy experience, while the dry seasoning brings out the crunch and character of the wing, allowing for a dual experience.
Recommendations: The 3 Mile Island stands out as a must-try for its unparalleled flavor journey. However, each sauce brings its unique charm to the table. Depending on your preference for heat, sweetness, or a fusion of both, there’s a flavor awaiting your discovery at Coop de Ville.
In Summary: Coop de Ville isn’t just about the wings; it’s about the art of wing-making. The meticulous crafting of each sauce, the consistency, and the evident passion behind each flavor profile make it a premier destination for wing aficionados. Read moreIf this review was solely for the lobster roll special offered on Mondays it would have been much different. Unfortunately, the service received by one of the restaurant’s employees made us feel very unwelcome and ruined what should have been a fun first time Martha’s Vineyard and lobster roll experience. After joining multiple MVY FB groups I found out about the lobster specials at Coop de Ville as they were listed as “can’t miss events/experiences” Although I’ve been coming to MVY for about 9 years this was my sister and her friend’s first trip and neither of them had ever had a lobster roll, so of course we headed to Coop de Ville on Monday ~ 1pm for lunch. We placed a to go order for 3 lobster rolls with one of the servers then sat at a table waiting for the bill and our food. We paid the bill, including tip before our food came out. Once the food arrived my sister returned from shopping for souvenirs and said we’ll just sit so you can eat before continuing our tour of Oak Bluffs and that’s when he came over with a piece of cloth to wave us away and let us know “if you order food to go you need to go…this is my real estate” We ordered our food to go and needed to move. I understand the need to get as much business as possible during the busy summer months, but as patrons we were made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome at the restaurant. The lobster roll and fries were okay, but due to the poor customer service and poor manner in which we were treated the rest of my family refused to get lobster rolls. I would never recommend this restaurant or patronize them...
Read moreI had a very disappointing and concerning experience at Coop De Ville in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard. They were not accommodating of food allergies—specifically dairy—and the service was careless at best.
We’re visiting on vacation, and my husband has a severe dairy allergy. Unfortunately, the server did not take this seriously. He ordered tacos, but received a completely different dish. When he pointed this out, the server casually responded, “Oh, I thought you ordered something else,” with no apology or concern.
Worse, when he asked if the dish was dairy-free, the server initially claimed she had noted his dairy allergy. However, when she went to double-check, it turned out the dish contained dairy. She quickly removed the plate and brought out a new order—but the damage could have already been done.
This kind of negligence is dangerous. People can die from allergic reactions. Luckily, my husband didn’t eat much before realizing something was wrong. But this should never happen in a restaurant.
It’s frustrating how often we run into allergy-related issues at restaurants in the U.S. We’ve traveled internationally and rarely face these problems abroad. We’ve been to Martha’s Vineyard several times without incident, but this experience left us shaken.
Restaurants need to do better. Proper training on food allergies is not optional—it’s a...
