If you’re going to run a business in a country that is not your first, it would behoove you to learn the native language at least enough to converse with customers. Secondly, in America we NEVER tip BEFORE the service nor would we EVER ask or demand for a higher tip. I would have tipped more but I had not received the massage yet and did not know what the quality would be. Classless people working here.
Music for my massage was provided by YouTube with ads. Same song the whole time, on repeat. Song sounded like a rip off of a Christmas song. Yelling to other person in the spa during my massage. Genuinely felt at times like she was trying to hurt me. Draping was excessively sloppy. At one point the therapist threw the entire towel up in the air and then lowered it onto my lower half instead of walking to the bottom of the table and pulling down. If I were a more private person I would have been mortified. Just a bath towel for draping and no neck cradle so my face was smashed into the table the whole time and by the time it was over my eyes took 30 mins to stop being foggy from the pressure. Someone should also notify this woman that you don’t massage armpits while laying facedown. I’ve been to a lot of massage establishments and some outside of this country, so I have a very open mind. Despite the total lack of professionalism or proper technique, it was the way I was treated at the end that made me completely embittered toward it. I won’t recommend to anyone going forward. This was my second time trying this place. The first time I had a male therapist who was a lot kinder and more professional. Because of the way I was made to feel on the way out the door this last time by the young woman, I will not be going back again.
And lastly, if you keep getting seedy folks coming in to your establishment, then maybe you should make it look less like a place that gives more than just massages. Fully covered windows is not a great look for a professional massage business. But they aren’t professional, so don’t...
Read morePosting a review because I don’t see any. I’ve been getting massages for 10 years on a regular basic. Overseas and in multiple states. I always get deep tissue. My old massage therapist in oak harbor moved away last year and I haven’t found anyone as awesome. Came here today because i was in so much pain. They took me in last minute for a 90 min deep tissue. Yes they don’t speak much English but my masseuse seemed to know all the spots that were causing me pain. He was strong and not lazy like some people can be when it comes to deep tissue. The price is average for the area. But all worth it. It’s also a bit different then American massages. So be comfortable because they are super professional. Relax and you’ll walk out feeling amazing! Little odd because they had no music or candles haha. But I’m there for a massage not environment. By far I was blown away with this spa. I will be a returning...
Read moreThis is a great place to get a massage period! I’ve read some of the other reviews for Oak Harbor Island Massage and I totally disagree and feel the need to come to their defense. I’ve known Gina and the owner Jenny for years and they are both very professional and knowledgeable about giving massages. Other women have come and gone working here because they don’t abide by rules of the owner. As long as I’ve known them they have never asked for a tip up front before a massage and there has also never been a man working at this spa. Giving a massage is hard work, try it sometime and see if you can do straight for more than 15 minutes. When these ladies work hard for a 90 minute session and receive a $ 15.00 dollar tip it’s more of an insult than anything else. I’ve had massages in several different spas and I rank Oak Harbor...
