It's a clean restaurant; the staff are always quick to clean up a table and reset it after it's left and messes are attended to as soon as they're made aware of them. The staff are friendly and helpful, though the language barrier can sometimes be a pain to cross. Decent prices, even if it's more expensive than it use to be; but I suppose that's true everywhere.
The only real complaint I have about the place is that, while the food is edible in its present state -- and even tasty for some of the selection -- it's very rarely HOT, which is more than slightly annoying. I'm almost positive that everything except the sushi, what is made on the Mongolian grill and maybe the white rice is made at least a day ahead of time, in bulk, and put in the fridge. Mom and I once went in there before they had even finished getting everything out on the tables; everything was ice cold. They were using the stream tables to heat up the food (not even bothering with a courtesy 2 minutes in a microwave) which consequently made everything overcooked and either rock hard or rubbery once it finally did become warm enough to be edible. Even in the middle of the lunch rush, the food is usually just only slightly warmer than room temperature. Makes the whole experience feel like you're eating someone else's leftover Chinese takeout.
Leaving on a positive note, the sushi bar and the grill are always excellent, if somewhat limited in selection -- though SOME PEOPLE need to be reminded that freshly cooked food takes TIME, even in a buffet, and stop harassing the poor cook over how long their order is taking -- the fruit/salad bar is usually appropriately cold, and I've yet to find anything inherently wrong with their dessert selection, including the custard buns and sesame seed balls, which are located on the stream table; never had the apple pie, but I'm told it's also...
Read moreI have never written below a 3 star review for any place I’ve been to, and I’ve written lots of reviews, but I guess tonight is the first.
My family and I have been to DH on multiple occasions, and part of the reason we go there is because they are offer 10% off for military. Unfortunately, the last 3 times I’ve been to DH they have tried not honoring their 10% off for military, even after showing them the proper identification. Now every time I go there I make sure to check the bill to see if the 10% was taken off.
Tonight I have family in town and took them to DH for a fun Sunday dinner. After we finished our meal, I paid for everything under one bill and made sure to show the proper ID for the 10% discount. I later get the bill of $64 and $2 was taken off. I then brought this up to the waitress who then brought it to the front desk lady. She stated that it is only 10% for my meal, not the entire 1 bill. I then brought up how that doesn’t make sense, and it’s only 1 bill, my bill, and should get the 10% off (mind you it’s only $6). I then said well that is very deceptive, can we show you the other military IDs then, the front desk said no and it’s already paid and done for, and then was incredibly rude about the entire situation.
The money is not the problem, the problem is if a business advertises 10% for military, to gain that business, and then does something like this, it’s very disappointing. I have spent a ton of money at DH and have been a loyal customer, and to have to even make this review is unfortunate.
My best advice for those who decide to eat at DH and are military, make sure to...
