Today I visited this store as it was one of my favorite stores for MEXICAN FOOD. The poor service I have received for the last several years outweighed the time I got food poison and poor service from the Lady at the front counter. I'm told she's the owner. However, today I asked for and addition container (4oz) of Chip salsa as I had more guest and this lady came unglued. I have spent thousands of dollars at this store and their sister store in Anacortes, WA. But, this was my last visit to this store as she accosted me at the front counter in front of other guest and their children. She's been poor in customer service in the past, but I enjoyed their food. Now I would not in good continence take my parties, friends and there guest to this restaurant as I have no way of verifying the quality of the food I would receive. I do not speak Spanish but she made me feel I was never welcome back there. I asked if she just wanted me to leave, she already had my money and tip so it was no loss to her as she was not going to return my money. She was screaming in Spanish and I was starting to fear for my safety and tried to leave without any further incident. As I opened the door she was still screaming in Spanish at the cook pointing at me. I will never visit this store or the stores Owned by her and will not patronized any of their other stores owned in other cities. Her poor service and fear of being attacked will keeps me from going back and I could in no way recommend this restaurant as the customer obviously comes last and the embarrassment she spewed on me is not the kind of restaurant I want were I live. As a restaurant owner myself, I would be on my knees trying to provide the best service to any customer that felt my staff or myself may of offended a most valued customer. My treatment by her is obvious the store good post have nothing to do with service but the fine Mexican food that came out of the kitchen. After getting food poison from there, I don't see how the city approves a kitchen that looks unclean, and possibly infested with the very unsanitary conditions all restaurants face. Well this one less vendor I will ever patronize again. it is with great sorrow I unfortunately had to give...
Read moreI decided to have lunch at Agave Taqueria in Oak Harbor today and I got there a few minutes after they opened for the day.
No lines. No crowd. No waiting!
After studying the menu for a few minutes I decided on the Chicken Taquitos appetizer and then Wet Chile Colorado Burrito for the main course.
My food choices were brought to my table about 5 minutes after I sat down! Very fast service that I'm attributing to no crowd.
The Wet Chili Colorado Burrito was very tasty. The menu describes it as "Filled with tender chunks of sirloin" and the menu doesn't lie! The sirloin is very tender and cut into large chunks.
I enjoyed the flavor of the burrito. It has guacamole, sour cream, Colorado sauce, and cilantro creating a wonderful flavor that I enjoyed, bite after bite.
Now, the reason I gave Agave Taqueria only 4 stars is that the chicken Taquitos were cold when I got them. But, even cold they were crisp and tasty. They were served circling a bed of lettuce strips that were topped with a dollop of sour cream and a dollop of guacamole. All of that was sprinkled with diced tomatoes and shredded Cheddar cheese and some cilantro.
I found that the Taquitos were even tastier when I dipped them in the salsa intended for the chips. I really enjoy spicy food and the salsa added a nice little kick to the flavor of the Taquitos.
The restaurant is small (only 8 tables) and the staff is friendly and polite. The appearance is clean and bright. The walls are covered with hand painted scenes of 19th century Mexico, with quiet strains of Mexican (or Spanish?) music in the background.
If you're looking for Mexican food in Oak Harbor, give Agave...
Read moreWell. At first i was really excited to try their food since i seen some good reviews and this would have been our first time. But what i noticed after the fact (after ordering) that a lot of these good reviews were from vegetarians. I then seen a bad review after the fact about how children couldn't order kids meals because they looked older then 10. And that it would be extra. And then also told the costumer that they were trying to take advantage obviously arguing with the costumer and making accusations toward the costumer with total assumptions. First off it shouldn't matter how old you are to order a kids meal. And when its obvious that they are still kids regardless should still be allowed to order it. Considering they are under the age of 17 and a minor. Duh. Then proceeded to tell that costumer that they could order the kids meals if they could prove that their child was 10 years old??!!! If i saw that review alone i would have not ordered from them PERIOD. Now with our order i was really excited to try their sirloin steak burrito. called in for a take out order. I asked for the a wet steak burrito and a "10" steak burrito. When my husband began to eat his all their was was veggies. He had to pick most of it out. Their seemed to be no steak in sight. With my burrito it wasn't steak at all. It was pork. I was very disappointed because i was really excited about my sirloin and didn't even get it. We will not being going...
