Ok where to begin. Today I went into Walmart here in Oak Harbor to buy some alcohol. Once I got up to the cash register to pay I had my ID ready as I am under 40 and knew I would be ID'd. All was going well until they asked for my wife's ID as well. She is of age but doesn't always carry her ID with her. But that is besides the point as she wasn't the one making the purchase, I was. I have heard stories of this happening before but have never been in the middle of it.
When I asked to speak with a manager a CSM came to the register and said that is was policy. (Once again I have bought alcohol with my wife by my side at other Walmarts before without this kind of strict inquiry of everyone's ID.) The CSM the proceeded to explain to me that it was Walmart's policy to ID everyone in the party of the person purchasing the alcohol. I then found and pulled up the policy on my Iphone (guess the CSM forgot people now have smartphones) and asked her to show me where in the policy it states that. She quickly changed her story to state that it was the store's policy. I asked her if there was a manager above her I could talk to.
I then stepped out of line to wait on another manager. I was introduced to a manager of what appeared to be of Indian decent ( I don't remember her name or actual position.) She also stated that it was a Walmart corporate policy and that she could go and print it out for me. I continued to make my point about how ridiculous their so called corporate policy was. I also stated that once the alcohol was sold to me all responsibility of the alcohol was mine and not the stores. That if I was to buy alcohol for someone underage, that I would not have them in the store with me. I would get a list of what they wanted and the money and go buy it for them without them ever entering the store. I also asked that if my 6 Y.O. or 18 month old daughter (she was with me as well) is with me are they gonna card them as well. She said no and I wonder where the age gap of ID'ing multple people for a single transaction stops. After I was done talking to her I asked her to go ahead and print up the policy for me.
She left with the CSM and went and talked to a gentleman who was dressed up, not in uniform, (guessing the store manager or owner) and another employee. After they discussed stuff for a few mins the 2nd manager came back to me and said that she was not allowed to print up the Walmart policy for me that I could find it on Walmart's website or call 1-800-WALMART. When I asked her to show me where to pull it up on the website she refused and told me to call the 1-800 number and told me to have a good night and then left.
I tried to call 1-800-WALMART and of course they are closed after 9pm Central time (I bet they knew this and thought I would forget about it.) Well I will not forget this and will be calling the 1-800 number to talk to customer service and even their corporate office if I have to. I will have to wait until Tuesday since Monday is July 4th (even though I will try on Monday)
One final note I also asked if I returned without my wife, if I could buy it then. She had said no because we had already been seen together...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter a couple with a dog approached me from behind. My dog, the all vicious 9lbs of her, turned and barked at the other dog. The people walked away and she stopped. This is after my dog was lovingly being pet by a number of people big and small. Anyways, an employee rudely and from across the main aisle told me I have to leave because my dog must be under control at all times. I told him she had only barked because the people walked over to us with their dog. They had walked past us a few times which she never reacted. Only when they walked up to me. He again repeated from across the main aisle that I must leave the store. I told him I am not because my dog is clearly under control. He then said ok I will let it go this time. He was NOT a manager or supervisor so I'm not sure where he feels he has authority to make that decision or "let it go". He was extremely rude and made a scene. Rather than coming to the aisle I was standing in, he chose loudly speak to me through people passing by. I work at home depot. Where there are plenty of dogs. All of which are people friendly and some of which are dog reactive. We don't tell our customers to leave because their dog barked at another dog. My dog is not aggressive in any way. Big dogs make her nervous and she reacts when they get too close. Unfortunately I didn't catch the employee's name, due to the fact that he was too far for me to read his name tag. Either way, there are a multitude of reasons why, especially a small dog to a big one, Will react that way. To assume that my dog is aggressive because she barked is ignorant. The way he handled it, was even more ignorant. The least he could have done is come and spoke to me not loudly converse from the shampoo aisle when I'm standing near the bread. That's what I call extremely poor...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLimited selection of everything, no cashiers, severe cluster, the isles are way too skinny. They're so afraid someone might steal a plastic bag (or cloth) that they keep no bags in sight and there aren't any cashiers present to ring you up for a bag. This is the worst walmart I've even been to. If this wasn't the only walmart on the island, I doubt anyone would come here on purpose. It has 10% of the food your typical walmart would and 10% of the other every day items. No deli, no meat, no produce....why is it even here? Then, on my last visit I needed a $10 flashlight locked up in a case and none of the employees were present. I had to go searching for employees, none of which had keys. Finally a guy came and unlocked the case and then wouldn't give me the flashlight...he just asked if I was done shopping. I thought he was making small talk but realized he was accusing me of being a criminal. Is it protocol to escort the customers to the register? (My options were either to be escorted or to pick a register for him to bring it to because he was NOT gunna hand it over.) Like children? Perhaps convicts? This store gives walmart a bad name. It's definitely the ugliest branch on the family tree, hanging on by a piece of fungus. (Every 5 star review is almost definitely posted by the...
