Whidbey coffee is great, the only place to get your coffee within a 50 mile radius of oak harbor.

However, recently when I went to whidbey coffee they had a trivia question, in which if you get the answer right, you would then get 50 cents off your drink.

The question was, “who was the first person to host SNL?”

A couple weeks before this I just watched a movie about the beginnings of Saturday Night Live, and knew the answer was George Carlin.

Out of the 3 possible answers they had listed, which included Steve Martin (who has hosted SNL 16 times), none of the possible answers were George Carlin.

I then said, well it’s not Steve Martin, which the barista said, are you sure, and I said yes.

Short story long, they had the right answer as Steve Martin, I said it wasn’t the right answer, they said look it up, I did, showed them it was George Carlin, and then they said well that’s the answer we got from the boss who made the question, and I did not get my 50 cents off.

I don’t care about 50 cents because it doesn’t matter, however, please, if you make a trivia question and then have a prize or reward for getting it right, make sure to have the right answer as an option. And also, if someone shows you that the answer you have is wrong, just take the 50 cents off and move on.

Great...

Had a disappointing experience recently. Spent a little over 20 minutes waiting in drive through for coffee. We could have ordered food at a full service restaurant and been half way through our meal with this time. When I got to the window no one acknowledged the long wait time or apologized. They simply said "What do you want?" I ordered along with my family. I then made a comment to the employee that it had been a long wait. Again, rather than taking ownership or apologizing the person just said it was busy. I then told the barista I was a regular with the company, usually had good experience but would find it helpful if my customer experience was acknowledged and someone tried to help improve my experience. I was direct but also respectful and professional. The barista than said in an extremely sarcastic voice "so what can I do for you?" I told her that this was not quite what I was looking for. She then handed me my drinks and told me to "move on." We drove off and we're honestly shocked. All in all it was an extremely poor customer...

Good barista drinks but expensive, sickening , wrong food. Two stars only because people were polite and drinks are good. Ordered two red pepper quiche, along with two other pastry and three barista drinks. Window server repeated the order. Got two bacon quiche instead. Overcooked and dry and salty. Brought it back to get refund but their policy is you have to wait for back-office to void the whole order, but you must mediately repay for non-returned items. So for 4 pastry and three drinks I payed 50$. Hopefully I get thirty back which was the original price. Worst thing is both my wife and I had stomach aches after eating the quiche. This is the second time I had dry, salty, old bacon quiche from them. That is why we specifically ordered the red...

A few years ago, I did not have a great experience af Whidbey Coffee. I decided to return (since I was visiting the island) I decided I wanted a cup of coffee. We ended up dining in and having some breakfast items. The coffee is always good. Nice hot and great aroma. I ordered a Bagel and tasted a breakfast burritto. The Burrito was yummy and satisfying while the bagel was tender and soft on the inside and a nice chew on the outside. Service was good too. I really enjoyed this last visit and I'll definitely return again when I'm in town.

When I moved here 3 years ago the coffee was great! Full cup, flavorful, food not rubbery from over microwaving. Now I go in and 80 percent of the time my coffee is just over half Full, cold or too hot. I have gone to extensive barista training and learned a ton about making coffee. I do own my own machine, but sometimes grabbing a coffee on the go is great because it's nice having good service and quality from fresh beans. I've been disappointed more often than not lately.

This is my favorite coffee shop on the island! I always have to stop here when I’m in town. The staff are always friendly and attentive, the coffee is delicious, and the location has tons of cozy seating. I also love their baked goods selection - the banana bread and the cranberry bars are my kryptonite. There are healthier sandwich and wrap options too.
