This is my story about 3 guys for a very simple sale: Tim Butler, Max and Ben, all 3 sales people at SOBT showroom
My name is Constance Linhares, active salesperson for 45 years full-time. I needed new furniture...comfortable but within a specific width, heighth and depth. I searched online several months. Now I know there is no way I could buy online without viewing in person, touching and physically sitting or stretching out with my huge dog at my feet.
Let me state that I believe in loyalty. I need it; I give it. After going many places...I came back to Tim Butler at SOBT. He has a sales sense with integrity and kindness and understanding without pressure. I met Max...what a good guy with the soft backing of the salespeople helping me. He gave information about the pet-friendly solution for the fabric I chose. He was very mellow and non-interfering. He was not overwhelming; but made me comfortable like Tim Butler. Character, kindness and knowledge of the product sold me.
However I was on my way to SOBT showroom to make a deal; but Tim was not there. I wanted to turn around; but called and got Ben. Ben is a closer. One of the best closers I have met as it sneaked up on me and got me! He was calm; no other customers there. Max was helping in background. Ben knows how to close. I went away signing up for more than I expected. I went for a sofa; ended up with an additional chair and ottoman. Ben is not overbearing; but I wanted the deal to be credited to Tim Butler. I have learned that this type of selling is more like teamwork than in real estate with which I have sold since 1978. In real estate it usually feels like the old saying" dog-eat-dog" world. With the Lazy Boy team (even the experience with the East Colonial office), there is teamwork, friendship, uplifting of others. They support each other. The small fee they might make had nothing to do with their trying to help me in my mission. Their goal was to satisfy my needs. THEY ACCOMPLISHED THEIR GOAL AS A TEAM! I AM NOT YELLING; BUT EMPHASIZING MY GRATEFULNESS. I NEED MORE FURNITURE. I WILL BE BACK.
Oh, yes. I must give a thanks to Darius ("D") and Brock. These two men came to my home to deliver my furniture on time!!! I was ready. I interacted with them; and they responded with smiles and kindness. I felt like I wanted them to stay for dinner; but this was their last job of the day. I want you to know I trusted them immediately. They were onspot with their job. It is more than delivery. It is making sure the furniture is what I expected; right color; right size; soft protectors for the bottom of legs of furniture to insure my hardwood floors were not scratched. I wish they were my close friends; but instead I was touched by their gracious personalities to place in my home furniture for which I was anxiously awaiting. I want thjem to know that I really likethem; but I am sure they know I felt they did me right.

I knew I made the right choice before I even parked the car. They have the most amazingly talented “sign holder” I have ever seen!
I was greeted by Katie who listened very carefully to my plans, including the fact that I could not finance anything before I go to closing.
Her questions pinpointed my needs and desired, and she guided me to perfect choices.
The designer Clint is a gifted artist. He was able to download the floor plan of the home, to ensure everything would fit both physically and aesthetically. Katie and Clint worked as a well oiled team.
When I asked to see tables with couches, she would not allow me to move them myself, and moved anything I wanted to see together for me.
The final piece to this puzzle was the manager Rob. He was so extremely personable, and offered me refreshments from a hot dog truck he had brought to the property The father and his two sons in the food truck were amazing as well. Rob is so proud of his staff, as he should be.
In the end, I was able to put down a percentage of the final price, which turned out to be much lower then I thought, with their amazing Memorial Day sale, and the work of the team.
I will receive the new couch and recliner the day after I close, which was exactly what I needed right away.
The beautiful bedroom furniture and dining room furniture are a special order, and I will pay the remainder of what I owe when they are ready to be delivered.
I have bought a lot of furniture over the years, this was by far the best experience I have ever had in a furniture store. I look forward to filling in the guest rooms.

Read moreI have read the reviews of this store and decided to chance it anyway, despite the strangely low ratings. I'm glad I did. Once you step into the air conditioning, you are very quickly met with a greeting from at least one, if not all of the staff. They are also very quick to provide a mask if you didn't bring one, as they are required indoors at this point. Along with a cold bottle of water, if needed.
From there, our needs were ascertained and we were shown around the store to the various items that we were interested in. Francis was very pleasant to deal with, showed extreme patience to our directness and even showed or appreciated some humor I threw her way. The entire experience was pretty good, actually.
To top it off, the store offers a designer that can help people to put together rooms by making suggestions - a good thing when a person is as fashion challenged as I apparently am. That's a free service, too.
Once our choices were made and the money exchanged hands, the order was placed. This is probably where most negative reviews come. As with any other retailer right now, products are in limited supply, since the advent of the COVID crisis we're undergoing. Things do not get assembled, or shipped, as quickly as before and there is a wait for them. La-Z-Boy is pretty upfront about this, though, telling you what you can probably expect. They even give you the worst case scenario so that you can be prepared, or pleasantly surprised when the arrival date comes earlier.
If you are not in dire straits and needing to replace that hide-a-bed sofa that's on its last legs today, you'll probably be satisfied with your La-Z-Boy experience...
