Nice enough store, but the worst management and least customer friendly policies I’ve ever seen. Bought a $35 hat my wife wanted, ate lunch at the grill next door and then got on the park shuttle to go hike. 5 minutes into the shuttle ride it breaks but we are on the long shuttle so I say no big deal we will take it back after we finish our hike and exchange it. We go to exchange it 5 hours later and the guy at the counter says no problem at all, just go grab a replacement and I’ll switch them out for you. They were out of stock so I asked if a refund was possible or if they had any in the back (they checked and said no) and then he went to grab his manager for a refund. (The hat was probably already returned once as it didn’t have a tag when we bought it) He was originally going to give me a $41 dollar refund based on a tag from the shirt we bought for my wife in the same transaction. I made the mistake of being honest with them and said that tag was for the shirt and that the hat didn’t have a tag, but the guy rang it up for only $35 (had a credit card transaction log to show the exact amount of the two items tied out. So somehow we went from go switch it out to a $41 dollar refund to me being honest and saying it was only $35 to them saying because they are out of stock now and I don’t have the original tag it’s impossible to let me get a refund or switch the hat out even for a lesser valued hat. It’s good they have a captive audience because Vicki the store supervisor probably isn’t competent enough as a human to be a ticket checker at a movie theatre in...
Read moreHere is the entrance to the village store at Yosemite where you might see people congregate, or meet up. While I'm waiting for my family you can see people coming in and going out of the popular stop. Shoppers get food for their dinners like steaks or canned food, they can buy salads or ready made sandwiches. They can buy drinks like sodas or bottled water. They can even buy convenience foods to to heat up. A person can buy junk food and potato chips and snacks and candy bars and ice cream. And apart from food, you can buy souvenirs, hats, scarves, T shirts, and the like. But I warn you no one over size 2 X can fit into anything. Besides all of this, a wide array of books, Knick knacks, rocks, key chains, earrings, necklaces and so on await your perusal. If you can't find something in here to take home as a memento I don't really think you're trying. Personally I can kill a whole afternoon in the store looking at things. Just remember that in the summer this place is crawling with people and it is elbow to elbow and the lines get so long you may have to wait an hour just to check out. Go shop early or shop very late or get your food before you come. This is one reason, the main reason, why I like the Winter, OK, I like the snow too. Have fun on your trip...
Read moreThe Village Store in Yosemite is impressively well-stocked, offering everything from groceries and snacks to souvenirs, apparel, and outdoor gear. It’s just a short walk from the parking area, and the staff has always been friendly and helpful during my visits.
I’ve been stopping in here for decades, and I almost always find something to bring home—whether it’s a Yosemite mug, hoodie, beanie, hat, or T-shirt. Their food selection is also excellent, easily one of the best I’ve seen in a national park (comparable only to the Grand Canyon Village Market & Deli).
The store usually stays open later than most surrounding businesses, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., which makes it a convenient stop whether you’re grabbing snacks or last-minute souvenirs.
Parking directly in front of the store is limited to 30 minutes, but that’s rarely an issue since you can park at the Yosemite Village Parking area and make the short walk up past the new Visitor Center to get here. The Yosemite shuttle also stops right near the store (Stop #1), so it’s accessible no matter how you’re getting around.
If you’re in Yosemite Valley and need groceries, a gift, or just want to browse, this is definitely the...
