ReLove Oakland — Local services in Oakland

My experience with Relove (Michael Specifically) was deeply disappointing and indicative of troubling practices masked by performative branding.

I purchased what was advertised as an authentic SATOSHI Nakamoto studded shirt, only to discover it was a counterfeit. :(

After 400$ later.. I respectfully raised the issue, instead of addressing the concern with integrity, the store chose to wrongfully ban me—silencing critique rather than coming forth.

Though Relove positions itself as a Black-owned business, its actions reflect the very pitfalls of Black capitalism: capitalizing on community identity while replicating exclusionary, profit-driven practices. This isn’t empowerment—it’s exploitation dressed in the language of progress.

This store is cool! I’ve shopped here before it was ReLove as well and was glad when a new thrift spot replaced it. Great selection, just know that it is premium pricing.

Visited the SF store last week and bought a $125 pair of pants. The staff there were super friendly and helpful but unfortunately they did forget the remove the security tag from my pants.

Went to the Oakland store (I live in Oakland) to ask for the tag to be removed which they did with no questions. Thankfully I also had asked for/kept my receipt from SF or there might’ve been an issue. I did ask for a modest store credit of 15 dollars to make up for the inconvenience which they politely declined.

The person helping me wasn’t super apologetic or friendly either. Will continue to shop here, just wish the customer service was a bit...

I popped in for selling and browsing. The location is stunning and the product is very curated. I saw a couple of items I would have liked to try on and consider but I could tell they weren’t going to fit. Nice mix of just high quality items and some neat vintage. The people working there were all super welcoming and acknoledged me when when I came in, which I have noticed lately some places don’t and I appreciated their nice demeaner. They were friendly and explained the store a bit as well as the buying. They were in the middle of a project but he did look at my items, though he ownly took 2 items I was pleased with his pricing.
