My first and honestly worst tattoo experience. I worked with Tyson, we did a consult while another client was being tattooed which seemed unprofessional to me. I asked him for a very specific piece which happened to be a memorial piece. He couldnât seem to understand what I was asking of him with my tattoo which happens, it couldâve been a misunderstanding and thatâs fine. I did notice the designs he sent were all from Pinterest or Google with small edits which was a major red flag and I shouldnât have gone to him. After a while I got frustrated and just designed it myself, I asked him to make absolutely no changes to the piece that I made unless it was necessary for the tattoo to heal in a way which wouldnât lose detail, but he made big and unnecessary changes anyways. He didnât use a reference photo of the piece and made a lot of mistakes with the tattoo, aside from small details that were changed (like sizing of highlights) thereâs parts of the tattoo that are just completely wrong and not like the artwork I gave him. Some of the perspective is changed in certain spots making it hard to look at and understand, itâs a black piece and thereâs a lot of spots where the black wasnât packed correctly and as a result looks super patchy. There are parts that are elongated, shortened, completely missed spots, spots that are filled in where they arenât supposed to be, and many other things that may have been avoided if he had a reference. If he felt he didnât have the ability to do the piece that I wanted, he shouldâve said so. The tattoo seemed like it was either out of his comfort zone or out of his skill level. During the session when I asked him about the things he missed, he argued with me and responded that âhe knew the tattoo.â He tattooed over scars that werenât fully healed which can cause blowouts with tattoos, I feel that as a professional he shouldâve been able to say whether or not it was safe to tattoo but instead he told me it would help the scars heal faster. Aside from the tattoo itself, Tyson made comments about the scars he was tattooing over that made me generally uncomfortable. Overall, the tattoo itself is alright, but not what I gave him, it just doesnât look great. He did ask for me to come back for a 2nd session to fill the black more but I chose not to go back. Iâm getting the tattoo fixed by...
Read moreI have gone back and forth about writing this review because I feel like what happened to us was a one off because we accidentally pissed off Sahalee. I reached out to Sahalee after finding her portfolio via Instagram because her work is beautiful. The only issue was that she was 2 hours away from us so it definitely took some planning. She was quite responsive until we paid the deposit and then trying to hear from her was harder than pulling teeth. She didnât answer for days, and we got worried maybe it was a scam for deposit money. I called the parlor and verified she was a real artist there.
Next, our tattoos were simple little tattoos. We got couple ones and they meant something so special to us from something in our relationship. Well I got there and she came in just after me and proceeded to plan her whole birthday partyâŚwhile I was sitting there. Honestly that didnât bother me (we werenât in a hurry) but it was that she didnât acknowledge me THE ENTIRE time. It was so uncomfortable after driving two hours for her skills.
Finally she talked to me and drew out the tattoo. Itâs literally a heart made out of puzzle pieces with all but one shaded in (Like itâs missing a piece). I have quite a few tattoos from different people. Including some big ones. Iâm pretty sure she pushed harder than you should. I really feel like she was trying to make it quite painful.
Finally, we removed our second skin a couple days ago, and she has colored out of the lines into my supposed to be missing puzzle piece and most of the edges of the pieces havenât been colored to. There are blank spots along the edges of mine and my husbands pieces that are supposed to be colored in.
Iâm pretty bummed because my missing piece isnât something I can just fix unless I pay a lot of money for tattoo removal to remove the spot she went over the line. We payed a lot of money and basically had to plan a trip just to go see her. We paid as much money for the trip as the tattoo was. This was supposed to be something so special and she messed it up and now this is stuck like...
Read moreI went to skin it on 5th street to get my tragus pierced on my birthday! my ex boyfriend had been there in the past to get his eyebrows done and they were beautiful so i trusted that this was a trustworthy studio as my regular studio was closed on my birthday when i wanted to get it done. the studio was very clean and the piercer was an absolute sweetheart, however the piercing itself was absolutely botched. i took one glance before i left, thinking that the bar was just really long but the positioning was completely off. it was essentially the complete opposite angle than it was supposed to go, i followed aftercare instructions for two days before it was completely enveloped and i had to go to my regular piercer to get it removed. i reached out to the piercer herself and the owner for a refund (i told her to keep the tip and cost of jewelry but i would appreciate if i could get back ~$40 for the piercing itself) i heard some back but all communications stopped when i mentioned getting it redone by my regular piercer rather than having it redone at skin it by the wife of the artist who originally did it. i lost my $70 and unfortunately my trust in this studio, i will not...
