Local resident here and I warn all shoppers to avoid this store. Rusty (the owner) told me that an item I was interested in was a genuine estate piece, a real star sapphire pin he purchased from an auction—as are all the pieces in his collection. However, he did not provide an itemized receipt nor any certificate of authenticity, and when I brought the item to a reputable jeweler for appraisal, I was told it was nothing more than cheap costume jewelry worth less than $15—far less than the $150 Rusty charged. One of Rusty’s cashiers who said her name was “Jessica” (no name tag and hard to understand as she only spoke with a mouth full of food) even had the audacity to suggest that I was “confused” as to where I purchased the item Rusty lied to me about and even went as far as to tell me not to “slander them until I talk to the owner.” Oh the irony! I used to frequent this store when it was formally the Christmas Dove (albeit much smaller than the main store in Barrington NH). The first time I met Rusty when he took over the location, he went on a rant about the Christmas Dove, telling me that the son of the original owners is a lowlife who is running his family’s business into the ground. I did not ask him about the company’s history his vitriol not only uncalled for but also entirely unprofessional and rather creepy given the extent to which he went to slander another company to deflect the conversation from his limited selection of Christmas collectibles. This unprofessionalism is certainly reflected among his staff—some very disgruntled women who are rude and dismissive to customers who question the quality of the "antiques" and the store’s return policy. The customer had purchased a BRAND NEW ITEM 3 days ago, she got home and it did it work, she had obviously called and spoken to the owner to let him know about the situation and he said he would replace with a display item. When she saw the display item, it was very dusty as it had been out for sometime and understandably she did not want it. The store clerk had to call the owner to verify this and the owner refused to give her a refund! This is a terrible practice! I understand being a small business but you need to stand behind your product!
