Our expectations were exceeded!
We chose The Trellis House for our Anniversary get-a-way based on location and reviews; both are spot on. The B&B is located very close to the Marginal Way, a short walk to both downtown area and Perkins Cove. Many good restaurants close by (check out the list of favorites on their website for suggestions). Laurence and Glen are both gracious, attentive and friendly hosts. After a few moments, you feel like an old friend. We stayed in the York room, great space with an enclosed porch for extra relaxing space. The front porch on the inn, where cocktail hour takes place, was a great spot for reading during the day and conversing with other guests during happy hour! Make sure you try one of Laurence's concoctions, along with tasty appetizers. Breakfast is served at the Blue Shutters Inn, right next door. (Mellissa, the manager, is cheerful and welcoming). Each day a multi-course meal was served. Delicious and filling! As it was our Anniversary, we opted for some of the add-on packages (Bloody Mary and Mimosa). Both were a great way to celebrate. We also ordered the Beach Picnic. This was plentiful and very tasty. Lots of treats to munch on at the beach. The Inn is charming, very welcoming with lovely gardens surrounding front and back. Can't forget to add that the Trellis Inn manager, Djata is a delightful lady and makes sure you are enjoying your stay. From my conversation with her prior to arrival (settings up add on packages) to departure (setting up our next stay) and all the time we were there, she was wonderful to work with. There is Bentley - what a great dog, ambassador and roaming host. And let's not forget all of the behind-the-scenes people (Viv-Housekeeping, breakfast chef....) who worked hard to make our stay so delightful. This may have been our first trip to The Trellis House, but definitely, not the last. We enjoyed ourselves so much that prior to leaving; we booked another...
Read moreLaurence and Glen have thought of everything, every detail to make you feel welcome and well cared for! From the moment we arrived for a romantic overnight, we were greeted with a bubbly glass of champagne which we enjoyed on the airy front porch with their adorable little dog Bentley. The Trellis House is gorgeous with the surrounding gardens teeming with luscious hydrangeas and thoughtfully placed seating options- very secret garden! The room was light and clean and made you feel right at home, complete with freshly baked cookies and bottles of water on each nightstand. The feeling of being so welcome at a hotel or Airbnb is rare. We loved the location, within walking distance to Marginal Way and lots of restaurants. The breakfast the next morning was so delicious and not uncomfortable at all! I pictured all the guests awkwardly sitting at one large table making small talk - not at this Bed and Breakfast. Glen welcomed us to bottomless delicious coffee as soon as we arrived and sat us at a table for two by an open window, and Laurence delivered two delicious plates - a golden brown blueberry bread and an incredible entrée of eggs and the crispiest potatoes I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. We cannot say enough about how amazing the customer care was. Especially nowadays when it feels so rare to be treated so well whether you're doing dinner out or an overnight somewhere. They nailed it! Thank you Glen, Laurence, Bentley, and the rest of the Trellis House staff! We will be back....
Read moreI had the most unpleasant experience with the Trellis House today. I booked an overnight stay for me an my 6 yr old daughter as and end of summer beach getaway. When I received the confirmation email I noticed it said “no children” and immediately gave them a call. I was told that it is an adult only property and that my reservation would be cancelled. I completely understood and apologized for not reading their policies. After hanging up I went online to book somewhere else. About 10 mins later, I received a call from the Trellis House saying that they would make an exception and allow us to stay, so I asked if they could give me 10 mins to ensure I could cancel my other reservation. The woman graciously told me to take my time and call back when everything was settled. I quickly called the other hotel, cancelled my reservation, and called the Trellis house back…this probably took about 15 mins total. When I told the woman I was able to cancel she said, “I’m so sorry, but someone else booked your room and we have nothing left to offer you”. Despite telling me that I could have the room, she gave it away KNOWING that I was in the process of canceling my other reservations!!! I cannot even fathom how she thought this was even remotely acceptable, now I am left with no reservations for the weekend thanks to this...
