Edit: Wanted to address the owners response. I have added a picture of it as well in case they realize that it is visible to the public and remove it out of embarrassment. I wouldnât want to deprive anyone of their genuine response and poor writing. Please note that Kao Mun Gai is Thai not Korean. Clearly they have no issue with their owners or employees yelling at people aggressively. I acknowledge that I took a personal risk by parking in an apparently private lot. However, that will NEVER justify the behavior of that man. Call and have a car towed if it means that much to you.
Was having a great afternoon until we came to go in some shops on Western. Parked in front of the Vine church because there werenât any open parking spaces across the street and we didnât want to park in front of the furniture stores and take their customer parking. I was trying to be considerate so parked several spaces down in the 10-15 empty spots available. As we got out of the car a balding ponytail man came out and yelled asking us if we were going across the street. Iâm not sure why I even bothered to answer because it wasnât any of his business where I was going with my kid but out of politeness I answered yes. We were getting a boba. He yelled âTHEN YOU BETTER TAKE YOUR CAR WITH YOU!â I was so confused as to why us parking in an empty lot ON A FRIDAY afternoon for 10 minutes was an issue for him, so explained we were grabbing a drink at the boba shop. He began yelling about paying taxes and other unintelligible things. I was so uncomfortable for myself and my kid getting yelled at, and honestly felt assaulted, so just hurried back to the car. I wasnât sure if he would do something to my car or not so didnât trust to go ahead and leave it there. Luckily a spot opened up across the street so we were able to move the car. However, that encounter made me so uncomfortable that I will NEVER go in those furniture stores ever again. I have been in a couple of times and thought they had a few nice things, but that manâs behavior was unnerving. I honestly wouldnât feel safe there again. It is really a shame that he works there (maybe he is the owner?) and doesnât understand the essence of community and that people enjoy popping into multiple shops along a street. That area is growing and becoming more walkable so beware if you plan on visiting. We are in the area almost every day of the week and frequent most of the shops. I wonder if he has issues with people in general or just people visiting...

I pulled in and planned to run across the street to grab a sandwich before coming back to look around and ask for some interior design pointers. The parking lot was nearly empty as it was the middle of a work day, and I didn't think runners no across the street to grab a sandwich would be an inconvenience for anyone. A man came out before I'd gotten two steps from my car and YELLED at me that I could not park there. I tried to explain that I just wanted to grab some lunch before coming back to shop, and he was very rude and flippant. He said, "yeah, sure. I hear that all the time", and then turned to walk away. Well, this establishment will not be receiving ANY business from me, ever. Very rude. Would not recommend.
UPDATE: over one year later... the business responds that they apologized. Do they remember screaming at me over a year ago and then apologizing, because I donât remember getting any apology. They also responded that they hear that all the time... maybe they would have more customers if they didnât yell and scream at people. Itâs generally RUDE to speak to people like that, weather they are customers or not. Like I said, I had just purchased a home. Itâs now fully furnished with furniture, rugs, and art. None of which are...
Read moreWhile MR. Bruno opt. to retire years ago...(RIP)... I was not only a fan of the original store but was blessed to meet his wonderful family. While the store is smaller the exceptional quality of the furniture has not change. And, I can very much attest to these owners not being in the least bit racists having been in their home. Customer service is not what it once was in America. And as Mr. Dunn stated he prides himself on letting the customer not feel pressured. My advice don't write them off...if you are looking to purchase that one of a kind unique pieces of high quality furniture...or contemporary accent Art, than at least stop in and see what's in stock or perhaps can be special ordered. Don't let personality stop you from getting that piece that will make an impression with the quality & comfort, at an affordable price. After all we all have those bad days...and maybe your smile will shift the...
