Unfortunate, because Party Base (now Seafood Base) could have almost had potential aside from hit and miss. But their service and quality have continually gone downhill.
Two stars, instead of one, are present because the first few visits we enjoyed every part of it and encouraged all of our friends to go, and organizations to cater. It reminded us of the food we had in China! And it was open late! And people were friendly and helpful. At first.
Things changed w/ delivery. We waited hours for food for a delivery order. That night, I told them that was fine. It happens. I told them on the phone waiting, that it was no problem.
Our food arrived. And our order was wrong. And none of the requested items were right. I figured if anything, there would be extra attention. Instead, we didn't get what we paid for.
We told them this immediately after noticing. And they said too bad, we have to talk to "the Boss" and asked me to wait for a response that evening. Waited until they're closing time at midnight (which due to delay we were up that late anyway). A note that during our chat I said it would be OK even if we just got our order receipt corrected, it wouldn't have been a big deal. I said, Whatever is easiest or whatever works for you.
Called the next day. Difficult to understand them, but they said again "We have to get 'The Boss'" who iterated the tech issues they had. I said, again, that's fine. I said outright, multiple times, that the delay wasn't the issue. Our incorrect order was the issue and I simply wanted to know the best way to proceed. I said again that just correcting the order would be a good start. It was difficult to understand him, but he kept asking what I really wanted. And then said how does twenty dollars sound?
It was the first solution I'd heard, and I was ready to end it. I also figured it would be a decent response to the two plus hours delay, in addition to food. I'd already told him at this point that the value we'd missed wasn't much. So if he was going to offer twenty, then great! I won't say no. He said come sometime and claim it off an order. Wanting to be prompt and not have to burden them with remembering their promise, I went with my wife immediately that weekend.
I got the third allusion to "the Boss" after speaking with servers (who were great). The female manager seemed upset, as did a gentleman who may have been The Boss. I mentioned the discount being a result of the incorrect order. They didn't seem to hear or care. Instead, they spoke with my wife, in Chinese, complaining. My wife was as polite as she could be, considering they were insinuating we overreacted and asked for more than we deserved.
Beating a dead horse. But we had told them, the delay wasn't the issue. The order was. And all we wanted was the small amount fixed, or even whatever they preferred. I hadn't come up with the $20 number. The "boss" did, out of thin air. After lots of waiting to correct the issue, I'd accepted it. I'd even emphasized I only hoped a small portion of the order to be corrected - much less than the $20 would have been.
She wouldn't leave us alone at first and when she finally left (to play with her phone), my wife relayed to me the attitude and we were both beginning our meal feeling very uncomfortable. These aren't all the issues, but the most recent.
It's sad, because our initial visit was OK. Servers that aren't management were wonderful (we tipped them as if being charged the full meal and then some). Food was still great.
I hope this was a temporary issue. Since our note they've asked us to take down our review and told me "we know your wife's Chinese" and didn't acknowledge issue. Still hopeful things get better if ownership changes. From what I heard from friends who visited recently, not likely quite yet.
Update: Fake reviews continue and they block and remove items calling out their service or manager. Again, when that owner or manager heads out (seeing as that seems to be a common complaint) maybe the food and service will get...
Read moreGood food, horrible customer service. My party and I attended this restaurant based off the great reviews we heard. I had been there once previously but this was my friend’s first time attending. I ordered the seafood party crab boil which is AMAZING and worth the price of $25.99. My friend ordered the catfish and shrimp fry basket for $13. It took awhile to receive our food but may I add that our server (tall, white male) was more than sincere and a very good waiter. We began to indulge. My friend ate ONE shrimp. I let her try my food and she decided she wanted that instead. She requested to have her basket sent back and replaced. She was willing to pay the difference. Our waiter was like okay... I’ll try. But he mentioned how management doesn’t budge and most likely will have her pay for the basket ON TOP of the boil. The waiter came back to inform us that management is REFUSING to accommodate us. My friend insisted on speaking to the manager directly. She took her basket up to the register where the manager showed no sympathy. This manager ARGUED with my friend for more than 5 minutes. At this point, my friend couldn’t even get a word in because this manager just kept cutting her off and say NO. My friend put the food on the table and walked out. I’m not a confrontational person so I just went ahead and got everything to go and paid for a $50 tab. We left hungry, disrespected, and dissatisfied. Paying for a meal that was barely touched. It’s unfortunate that we had to deal with such disrespect. I love the food but HATE the personnel. We will not be returning and hope that this reaches many people to agree not to go to a place with such childish, defiant practices. A meal that cost a company probably less than $5 to make, wasn’t willing to lose that $5 to satisfy a customer. Especially a FIRST time customer....
Read moreA co worker and I came here for lunch. We went in and sat down and it took a while for our server to come give us menus or ask for our drinks. The two servers were so busy doing other important things....like putting butcher block paper on the other tables !!! That should have been my first clue. One server finally did come to our table and took our order. Their prices were a little “pricey” for lunch so we orded the lowest items on the menu. Fried rice with shrimp , and lo main with shrimp. During the entire time we were there only one more party came in. And it was right after we sat down. It was a group of 7 people. The server took our order first and then theirs. We waited and we waited and we waited...30 minutes !!! Not only did it take a long time, the server only brought ONE of our orders !!! It was mine...and my coworker had to wait another 8 minutes for his... because we were already late getting back to work we scarfed our food down. After we paid and was leaving out the door we heard that other table ask where their order was.. Let me remind you again there were only a total of (9) NINE people in the entire place for lunch. The food was good but nothing really special. As far as the service huh!!!! It was...
