My wife and I went to this restaurant for the first time on 1/9/19. I had been wanting to try it for some time and it was well worth the wait. Was seated promptly and our server came over and was very attentive and kind. He took our drink orders and came back quickly with them. I mentioned to our server that it was our first time eating in this establishment. I asked what he suggested on the menu and he told me either the chopped beef brisket sandwich or the combo plate. After some debating, my wife and I opted for the combo plate (a choice of 2 of their smoked meats). We chose the pulled pork and the sausage. They actually have 3 different types of sausage: jalapeno-cheddar, hot link, & black pepper. Also, chose the "fancy" mac & cheese and the dutch oven sweet potatoes. I asked if my wife and I could split the combo plate and he informed us that that was perfectly fine. Food came out maybe ten minutes later and they split it evenly onto two different plates. Everything tasted great--the mac and cheese was quite good. I asked what type of cheese they used to make it and our server informed us it was gruyere. Enjoyed the 3 different types of sausage and the pulled pork was also very good. My wife and I were both fairly full at this point. After we had finished our combo platter, a woman came by our table and asked us how we liked our entree and we both told her that everything tasted great. Not long after she came back by and told us that since it was our first time eating there, they were going to bring us out a dessert free of charge. I thought that was great and it really showed that they valued us being there as patrons. Maybe five minutes later, out came a double chocolate bread pudding. I am not a huge fan of bread pudding but I have to say, this was quite good. Dessert featured chocolate chips and a grand mariner glaze that was very sumptuous. Finished the dessert, paid, and thanked our server for the free desert and grade-A customer service. Also informed him that we would definitely be making another visit. All in all, I am glad that my wife and I finally tried out this restaurant. I would most assuredly recommend stopping in the next time you are looking for a great meal that is reasonably priced with wonderful customer service!

Iron Star BBQ is a haven for barbecue enthusiasts, offering a delectable fusion of Southern flavors and rustic charm. Nestled in a refurbished 1920s-era building, the restaurant effortlessly combines a cozy ambiance with a menu that pays homage to traditional BBQ while adding its own modern twists. The star of Iron Star BBQ is undoubtedly the meat—smoked to perfection, tender, and bursting with rich flavors. Whether it's the succulent brisket, melt-in-your-mouth ribs, or the mouthwatering pulled pork, each dish showcases the artistry of slow-cooked barbecue. Accompanying sauces and sides complement the meat beautifully, providing a balanced palette of tastes. The rustic décor, complete with exposed brick walls and wooden accents, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for gatherings with friends and family. The staff's friendly and attentive service adds to the overall positive dining experience. While the focus is on carnivorous delights, Iron Star BBQ does cater to vegetarian diners with a modest selection of meatless options. The beverage menu, though not extensive, offers a good variety of drinks to pair with the barbecue feast. In conclusion, Iron Star BBQ stands out as a must-visit for barbecue aficionados. Its harmonious blend of traditional flavors, cozy setting, and attentive service make it a top contender for anyone seeking an authentic and satisfying BBQ experience.

One of the best places we have eaten. There are many many places to eat in Oklahoma City and our friend Patricia chose this one...thank you. We were seated immediately. Our service was amazing. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted. I've had barbeque three days in a row. Urban had chili on the menu. Our server brought me a taste. My 💓 and head were soled. Real chili...no beans (if there is beans, it's not real chili) beefy and delicious. Filled my belly with real chili deliciousness. I also ordered the fried okra... whole okra fried... wonderful. It came with cornbread, a little dry but definitely delicious. Howard had the ribs. The smoke ring was amazing as was the flavor. He ordered the sweet potato and corn pudding. They were both very good. Patricia ordered the cobb salad. It looked amazing. They add their house smoked turkey to it. I tried the turkey, yummy. Only disappointing moment, not everyone like that much dressing on their salad, suggest you put the dressing on the side. Patricia and I split an adult cherry limeade. OMG deliciousness in a glass. The piece de resistance...luxardo maraschino cherries...WOW. our server wanted to treat us to dessert. He brought us the double chocolate bread pudding. Thus is not your ordinary bread pudding. It so good. Run don't walk to eat here. The prices are affordable and in my humble opinion 5 Star.

This was great from beginning to end omg my bf has been trying to get me to go here but I don't believe everyone can bbq so I was nervous but then smacked in my face with burnt ends that taste like your Pappas, sweet potatoes that taste like your grandma's, greens that taste like your cousins well mine not yours lol. The service when we entered was so inviting and warm!!! The smell was oooh weee so I knew I was in the right place and they have a full bar!! Mhmm girrrlllsss full bar!!! We were sat and given the choice of where we would be more comfortable I loved that!!! Aiden helped us and was very very helpful and patient I was new here and wasn't sure what I wanted. They brought out our appetizers the burnt ends queso and lord o mercy yall who every in the right mind thought of that smh kiss him!!! Them!!! Aiden asked if we were ready for our food to be brought out and we were so the large portions were overwhelming but oh how I tried to eat mine and most of his. We got burnt ends and ribs sweet potatoes fries, potato salad and the beans and they did not miss anywhere yall smack smack oh I'm sorry I'm over here eating these left overs honey because even warmed up smack smack smack lol but the best part was a very warm spirited lady with big smile asked how everything was and wanted to make sure we enjoyed everything I was completely impressed and can not wait to go back and enjoy the atmosphere!!! Also I am slightly hard of hearing and it was not so loud that we were not able to talk soft to each other I can yell but I never had to. I read the other reviews and completely disagree with any that gave them bad reviews but everyone can have a bad day but I encourage people to always say when they are not happy because I believe these are Good people here and from what I experienced are willing to go above and beyond within their means to make sure that you are satisfied with your experience just speak up people. Hold them up don't hold them down!!! Blessings!!! And...

I've been to Iron Star a few times, usually for a friend's birthday or some other event. Usually it's a pretty good place and they have decent service for the size of the party and the food is good.

The most recent visit I ordered the prime rib because it had been a while since I had a good steak. I normally order medium if it's not a steak house to give a little leeway for it to be sightly over or under and still be pretty close to how I like it. Unfortunately I didn't ask if it was an actual steak they prepared or a cut off the actual prime rib. It was the latter and although somehow the ends managed to be cooked properly, the center of the steak was completely cooked through, which I presume is from being cooked twice. If that's the case I'm not even sure why they asked how I wanted it. I was about halfway through the meal when I finally cut into the center of the steak.

There were other issues, like generally poor service. My wife ordered the Arnold Palmer, which she didn't like. She changed to an unsweetened tea, but was brought sweet. Throughout the dinner other people were trying to get our server's attention, but she either didn't hear them or was ignoring them. I wound up drinking there Arnold Palmer my wife didn't want because it was $3 and I didn't think it was too bad, but the price seemed a bit steep since they have it premixed and don't charge that much for either tea or lemonade. The reason I know they have it premixed is the server refilled the cup without asking if we wanted a refill and it was from a pitcher. I didn't drink it because I usually get water and wasn't really in the mood for another. Come to find out we were charged for both drinks, $3 each, and the tea my wife ordered.

Overall, the BBQ is good, but not great, and apparently the service has gotten worse so I can't really recommend Iron Star any more. If you go, definitely avoid...
