Even after speaking with the main store and manager, the place still had trouble getting our names right (even with my fiancé spelling it out for them, and even with my name being simple and also written out). Might have to do with their poor record-keeping.
We told them the wedding band they gave us was a different size than the engagement ring. They wouldn't have it. Now we're waiting for it to be resized after demanding it as our wedding has passed. The warranty is essential since good luck on them also actually resizing it to your liking (tell them three times your requested size and GET IT IN WRITING).
At first they're great. Helping you pick the ring. Acting like they're giving you favors with their gimmicks. They're great. And then they're apathetic and bumbling. After waiting so long on word on getting an engagement ring resized (we had called them, the main store, etc. And nothing),we visit again and they 'find' it and basically say too bad so sad. Even with the wedding coming up soon (at the time). After a complaint store manager fixed most of the above. I still see my name spelled wrong on billing statements, and I have to take his word that the no interest incentive is good since I had no promotional paperwork given to me.
Most recent event... When I picked up the gift card it was the same day we were receiving a ring. The counter person gave my receipt to be signed by me, which had the cost of the ring on it, to my fiancé and tapped it, pointing the ring cost to my wife.
For me, not a huge deal. Even their modest rings are overpriced and I'm proud of what I spent since I went for the design she liked (and I do like the cut/look of the ring). But to some, that's huge. And to me it was a little rude.
Hopefully after we pick up our rings (crossing our fingers they're the right size and based on the size we selected), our trips will be limited to the multiple times a year we have to visit to have them inspected and dusted.
Update: A few years since - a few months ago wife turned ring in for resizing. They called saying it would be delayed. It's been months. Months to resize a ring. Update 2: Finally got the ring back. It turns out they just messed up (again), and also changed their policy - they no longer communicate to people when their ring is done, even when the ring is said to be delayed, etc. It (and a few other things) surprised the Helzberg corporate office, too. Despite our calling, the ring was apparently done months ago? We were without our ring for so long, because they failed to follow-up and record-keep. I will say, when I came in Hannah (new team member?) was more communicative and polite than any other employee we'd dealt with there -...
Read moreOnly one month after my engagement ring was purchased, a side diamond fell out of my ring! I work in an office all day and don't wear it when I'm doing anything that might damage it so of course I was angry when I saw that I was missing a diamond. I took the ring into the store where I was helped by 3 different employees. Two were arguing with each other on what process to take while the other was I guess in training. When they finally decided what to do they took my ring and gave me a receipt. They said they didn't know how long it would take but probably a month.
A week later I call to get a more sold delivery date. They say my ring will be in that week. Of course I'm happy because I was prepared to be without it for a month.
A day later, a passive aggressive employee calls me saying they actually don't have my ring because they messed up the paperwork (who knows how long it would have taken then to release they messed up if I hadn't have called asking questions the day before). She asked me if my wedding was soon so she could try to rush order it. I told her no it wasn't but I would still like it rush ordered since it was their mistake, not mine. She said she couldn't do that.
It took her 20 minutes to understand what I needed, my stone replaced and the ring resized. She demanded that I gave her I different size ring then I actually did. After what seemed like forever arguing with her, she told me it would take another 5 weeks to get in the ring I wanted.
A couple minutes later, the Store Manager Steve calls me apologizing for the trouble then told me it would be in within 10 days. This store obviously has no sense of organization or customer service. I don't want to see employees arguing with each other when I'm in a store, but especially when it involves my expensive (yet poorly designed) engagement ring! We have bought rings from Helzberg's before and never had this kind of trouble. If you can, avoid this store!! The Tulsa Helzberg's has always been...
Read moreThe store at Penn Square is the most poorly run Helzberg I have ever encountered. We have owned jewelry for over twenty five years and have been to stores in 3 states as we have moved around over the years. I take my jewelry in at least every 6 months and have added pieces to my collection so several items have to be cleaned, checked and warranty cards signed.
TWICE during this process in the past 18 months the Penn Square Helzberg has lost/misplaced one of my jewelry items. The first time I noticed I was missing earrings a few weeks after I took my pieces in for cleaning. I called the store and they said I left them in the cleaner. Excuse me? I didn't put them in the cleaner, you did! I just made the mistake of trusting that they gave me back all my items after cleaning. Most recently was in October when they accused me of not bringing in the item, but only the warranty card! Then after I left the store in tears, they called me 10 minutes later to say that the expensive 5 stone diamond anniversary ring was found in the trash!!! It had been thrown away in the cleaning tissue!! Two employees (one male, one female) who both said they were managers were there at the time and pretty much could have cared less!! I would love to talk to someone from corporate office but not sure how to do that? I will drive out of my way to never go back to Penn Square Helzberg!!
I love my Helzberg items and tried to give the Penn Square store another chance but two times of being treated so poorly and I'm done. I definitely recognized the female manager as being on site during both occurrences. She has light brown hair highlighted with blonde and seems uncaring and rude. I am a longtime loyal Helzberg customer for over 25 years which can be seen by the number of pieces I bring in. It's probably fine to make a purchase at Penn Square. However the way you are treated afterward as a returning, loyal customer who is trying to keep up with the terms of the warranty they offer...
