So, not gonna lie, this location has had its issues in the past. In fairness to Genesis, however, many of these were inherited from its days as 24 Hour Fitness. Finally, things have turned around, and it has now become one of my favorite Genesis locations. It seems to be overlooked, largely because of its size, and location, with a premium location, down the street. But don't let that sway you.
Tucked away, behind Quick Trip, I find it to be a hidden gem. One of the issues of the past, was upkeep and maintenance of equipment. But recently, I have found that equipment in disrepair, gets attention in a very prompt and timely manner. More quickly than a lot of other Genesis locations. It is also kept nice and clean; a very noticeable improvement from the past. The sauna and spa area are really nice, and much cleaner than its sister site, down the street; although with the rennovations going on there, I'm sure that issue has been resolved. Franky, the Alden location steam room was just gross. Tthe remodel waa long overdue. But i digress as it is now brand new :)
The staff here, are friendly and helpful. Mariah Bryant, the cureent manager has great ambition for this club, which is infectious to the staff, who all seem genuinely happy to be there. Her vision for this site is awesome, and if the future plans for this location are acheived (and with her drive, I'm am hopeful they will be) I think Johnson County and Olatheans are in for a uniquue gym experience, geared towards more serious bodybuilders, while maintaining its current mission, providing a nice workout environment for all.
If and when these improvements are made, and the facelift is complete, I will happily upgrade my rating to a 5. This is a gym that has made a great turnaround. Only recently have I migrated back here.
One thing I really like, is the clientele of this location, seem more serious, for the most part. People are here to workout, and are generally courteous with limited cell phone use. Not a hoard of kids here, socializing and camping out on equipment, taking selfies, and running at the mouth. A definite issue down the street, where you can wait forever for all the broccoli haircut clones, to do a single rep, and vacate their claim on a bench.

The cleanliness I'm referring to is the guys in the bathroom area. While changing clothes, going to the bathroom, shaving/etc., I see guys after using the restroom (urinals and/or toilets) walk straight out onto the weight room without washing their hands. This includes employees. It's gross, it's germ spreading, and dare I say disease spreading. Again, I have written corporate asking them to post signs throughout the bathrooms asking members to please help keep diseases and cleanliness by washing their hands before returning to the floor. And, demanding employees to wash their hands before returning to the weight room. I have yet to receive any responses or see any signage in the restroom area.
So, in conclusion I don't see any changes as an "end user" , corporate doesn't respond to concerns, guys still do #1 and #2 in the bathroom returning to the floor without washing their hands, and apparently, management is off limits-they have a screener at the front desk to keep you from talking to...
   Read moreI am writing this in hope that it will be reviewed by Genesis Corporate. Only been there for 6 months but it is overcrowded for the amount of equipment present. Aside the point, my main issue is the ongoing challenge for them to charge the right amount of monthly and personal training dues to the correct card on file. Between the monthly membership dues and personal training purchased, they have messed up charging my card not once, but three times and expect a fourth. Every time they messed up, I contact them and they told me that they would fix the issue. That did not happen. Mischarging my account does not affect them in anyway, but it does affect my bank accounts. Due to the incompetence of the management and staff, I imagine I will have to change my bank account numbers since they can’t seem to get it right when charging payments. Every time they messed up, they said it would not happen again and I get the same result every time. This particular health club lacks skilled management to provide structure and training to its staff, resulting in poor customer service. I have been in management and whether it is a big issue or a minor one, you want a happy customer so bad reviews like this won’t happen to damage their reputation. I have been a member for only six months out of the two-year contract but I will definitely be looking for another health club. The bad thing is once I cancel my membership, I will probably still get charged due to the lack of communication and novice personnel. I know I will have to pay more monthly at another gym, but I will have a better professional result and not have to worry when the time comes around for the monthly payment.
