03/08/24 Title: Discrimination and Disrespect at Chuck E Cheese: Unacceptable Treatment
My family recently had an extremely distressing experience at the Chuck E Cheese establishment in Olathe. My 12-year-old son, who has autism, was unjustly kicked out and subjected to rude treatment by both the staff and law enforcement.
Despite my son not causing any trouble, the employees decided to ask us to leave. When Olathe Police arrived, Officer J. Stutz (badge number 821) showed blatant disregard for our situation. He callously insisted we vacate the premises without listening to our side or considering the witnesses who could attest to my son’s innocence.
Officer Stutz’s aggressive demeanor towards us, particularly towards my son with autism, was utterly unacceptable. It’s incredibly insensitive to expect a child with special needs to comply easily with such directives, especially when they’ve done nothing wrong.
The lack of empathy and professionalism displayed by both Chuck E Cheese staff and Officer Stutz has deeply disappointed and hurt our family. Discrimination against individuals with autism or any disability should never be tolerated, especially in public spaces meant for enjoyment and inclusivity.
I urge Chuck E Cheese management to reevaluate their staff training on handling customers with disabilities and to foster a more inclusive environment. Additionally, I implore the Olathe Police Department to provide sensitivity training to their officers regarding interactions with individuals with special needs.
We frequent many arcade places including all of the Chuck E. Cheese’s in the Kansas City area. We have also traveled to the Omaha, Wichita, Orlando, Springfield, and Topeka location. This is tyhe first time my son has been treated with such inhuman decency and in a demoralizing demeanor. Mainly by Markus the tech manager.
No family should endure the humiliation and discrimination we experienced. It’s imperative that action is taken to prevent such incidents from happening to others in the future.
What my son was doing, tapping on the buttons of the machines while recording himself, occasionally “stemming” making loud sounds and rocking, a behavior Markus deemed disruptive and abusive. He claimed to be the manager and demanded we leave, falsely stating we were only there because we were kicked out of another location. In reality, we were there because my son enjoys visiting every franchise, along with over 100 other arcade venues. We take him on outings at least twice a week to various locations, and this is the first time we've encountered...

As a patron of Chuck E Cheese Olathe, I was deeply disturbed by the treatment I witnessed today. A child, who happened to have autism, was unjustly kicked out of the establishment by staff and the Olathe police for no apparent reason other than being himself. It was disheartening to see such discrimination against a special needs child in what is supposed to be a family-friendly environment.
The child was not being any louder or more playful than the other kids present. Yet, he was singled out and asked to leave, leaving me in total shock and disbelief. Witnessing such blatant disregard for inclusivity and compassion left a lasting impression on me.
As a result of this incident, I have decided that I will no longer patronize this Chuck E Cheese location. It’s imperative that businesses prioritize the well-being and inclusion of all individuals, regardless of their abilities. I refuse to support an establishment that fails to uphold these basic principles.
I urge Chuck E Cheese Olathe to reflect on their actions and implement measures to ensure that such discrimination does not occur in the future. Every child deserves the right to enjoy a fun and safe environment without fear of being ostracized because of their differences.
In conclusion, my experience today has left me deeply disappointed, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. It’s my hope that by sharing this review, awareness will be raised, and steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

There are now two options pay by point or play time from 30 mins to 3 hrs. We did points and had about $30 put into a band and around 100 points. Points/Time is on a card or you can buy a hands free bracelet which tapping either against a pad adds tokens to activate the game. About 5 or 6 different ride on cars, lots of ball/ actual carnival type games (kicking a soccer ball past Homer Simpson, throwing balls into a mouth, bean bag toss, eyc), fruit ninja, several fishing/spearing games, selfie Chuckie C. sketch photo (takes forever, be prepared, lol), lots of lottery games (paw patrol gives out 50 tickets about every 5-10 plays), ball machine, a couple water machines, jurrassic park and zombie ship first person 2 player shooters, bop the animal popping out of the holes games, etc Really varied, well maintained, and top notch arcade. 1 to 5 tokens per play. Time might be better for really fast play, but tokens are better for smaller kids to take their time and ride on stuff...
