Mangelsen's — Local services in Omaha

This place is actually pretty amazing! The selection is wide & while the prices are sometimes a bit more than I want to pay, I like some of their unique items.

The reason I'm rating them 2 stars is because of their customer service (or lack thereof). Both times I've been in & asked someone for help, no one seems eager. It's whatever is out is out rather than NICELY asking if they can check or get someone to check in that department. I never give a 5 star review unless a place blows me away everytime I'm in. I'm deducting 1 star for the 2 negative experiences I've had so far (I've only been in a total of 3 times as of today..).

Yesterday specifically I was in, I grabbed the person walking by after I scoured the aisle looking for what I was primarily in for. The woman gave me that attitude & I had to push for her to get someone in that department. When I did, the woman was not very nice about helping. I did end up getting to order what I went in for.. it was available that way. She wasn't excited about helping a customer as she had to order 3 to get my 1, she isn't sure how quickly the other 2 will sell. I'm grateful she found it & ordered it, but she can save the attitude for some break room venting rather than giving it to the customer! If I hadn't pushed to get someone to look into it & just accepted the 1st new no's without checking, I'd probably still be searching.

Customer service is huge for me & I don't feel like I get it, so giving them my business isn't as often as I'd like unfortunately. If on the rare time I go in & the customer service is good, I will update my review. At this point I'm extremely disappointed! I had several color scans and color prints done by Hamilton color labs. They do high quality scans and high quality prints. They are, however, not very good at fulfilling their commitments. In February, I ordered 4 prints and do to a change in plans ordered an additional print. Someone else from my organisation picked up the prints. When they arrived at the event that we needed them for, we discovered that we only had the four prints initially ordered. It was too late to have it for the event and on reviewing the receipt it seemed we were also not charged for the additional print. In April I asked for one print to be made and uploaded the file. I was informed that the print could not be done in the time frame in which it was needed. (4 days). Unbeknownst to me they went ahead and produced the print. When I later came in to have a scan of a new piece of artwork done I was informed that the print was completed. I informed them that I didn't really need it anymore as the time had passed when it was required. The owner refused to do the scan and basically threw me out despite my offering to pay for the print that had been rendered unnecessary. Very hard to work with despite a high...

This was my first visit to Mangelsen's and I was definitely impressed. I want to start off by saying that they are Pet-friendly and my little chihuahuas loved being able to shop with me. The gentleman at the cash register was very polite and answered all of my questions about classes and the services that the store offers. I'm sorry to say that I didn't catch his name, but he was very nice. I also did not catch the name of the lady working the sewing/ fabric cutting counter, but she was super helpful. She gave us advice on our project and was very welcoming toward my dogs. We really enjoyed talking with her and will use her advice to guide our way with regards to our project. We also had the pleasure of discussing the Escape Room and cosplay with Jeremy in the year-round Halloween section. He gave us some great information about the Escape Rooms that are offered there as well as letting us know that Mangelsen's is working towards being a provider of cosplay supplies including makeup, skin-safe adhesives, and a fast-drying mold that is better than plaster.
