My first time at Boot Barn will also be my last time at Boot Barn. I paid $150 for a pair of boots that were worn out, scuffed, scratched, missing a chunk in the heel, and now ruined by the store associate applying waterproof spray. ———————
This was going to be my first pair of cowboy boots so I needed to try on a few, before I committed to a design. I have wide feet so I did not want to order something off-line. I spent about 45 minutes trying on various boots within the men’s and women’s section, and I finally found a singular pair that would work for me. ————————————
when I was finally ready to check out, I was told that we are supposed to take the display boots… A wild thought to me considering the fact that many of these boots were over $200 a pair. The boots that I wanted, were full of scratches and scuffs, and one boot was significantly more worn Than the other boot. when I brought up the significant wear and tear differences, the redhead lady just gaslit me and told me it was due to people trying on shoes and that it would always feel different. When the scratches, scuffs, and worn out tread were pointed out on the left boot, She didn’t offer me any solutions besides saying that another store associate would polish them for me. ———————
I held my ground and told her I would like a pair that is new. They searched the store and of course did not have a new pair in that size. I had less than four days before riding class so ordering online was not an option. After looking around and trying to find other solutions to no avail, I asked for a discount since these boots were obviously worn out. I was only offered 10%, which is ludacris when taking in the condition of these boots. ——————-
I let the other store associate condition the boots and treat them with waterproof spray to make them look more presentable. I was promised that the leather would not darken, when I asked about it, as leather typically get darker after it is conditioned. He told me once they dry they should lighten back up. (these boots were a very pretty light tan- which I spent considerable time trying to find as I do not like brown or other darker colors of tan). ——————-
Of course, once i got them home & waited a day, they did not lighten back up. to make matters worse, he only conditioned the boot bottom, not the shaft of the boot, giving my boot two different colors/ shades of brown. now they are ungodly ugly. thanks logan!! ———————————-
i am so dissatisfied & upset with my experience here. They genuinely want you to paid $200-$600 for worn out, scratched, scuffed boots that have been tried on however many times. you don’t even get a box with your purchase. how pathetic. there were boots on the shelf missing entire chunks out of them, due to people mishandling them while trying them on, knowing they were not going to purchase them. i am truly baffled that they expect you to purchase a used boot at that their absurd prices. i’d return my boots if the tag hadn’t fallen off. ————————————————————-
if i ever go back to Boot Barn, it will be to try on a certain style to make sure they fit. i will then be ordering that brand online from the manufacturer or a reputable company that will supply you with NEW and UNUSED boots, in a BOX, at probably a better price. this store is a effing scam. ————————- if you’re looking to drop a pretty penny on some riding boots, i’d look elsewhere. again, paying face value for worn out, dirty, scuffed boots is a joke. this is like a goodwill of...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars for customer service I would. I’ve never written a review in my life but after my experience at Boot Barn I couldn’t resist. I walked in to return a flannel shirt, stood at the counter waiting to be assisted (there were no other customers) and no one acknowledged me. I finally walked over to an associate who agreed to help me. Turns out he was only three weeks in and not entirely familiar with returns yet. No problem, I work in customer service so I’m very patient and understanding. He eventually asks for help from a coworker who was extremely belittling and rude to him. She walks away, he figures it out, except he puts my refund on an in-store credit and not back on my debit card. (In hindsight that might be my fault for not specifying) No biggie though, like I said I’m patient and understanding. I ask him to ask his coworker again and of course she has the same awful attitude she had before except this time it’s directed toward me. She tells me it’s too late to put it on a debit card now that it’s been processed as in-store credit so I offer to refund me in cash. She snaps and says she can’t because it’s a debit card transaction and she can only refund with in store credit or back on the debit card. I tell her politely I don’t want in store credit. She’s visibly frustrated and tries different ways to refund my card. Eventually it works out and she aggressively makes me sign a receipt and I say thank you and walk out.
Overall such a bad experience. I give credit to the guy who helped me initially because dealing with a coworker like that must be horrible. No wonder he was hesitant to ask for help…
I’ll be the first to admit having to constantly repeat things to new hires is exhausting and frustrating, but they are new and sometimes can’t help it…but to belittle them and make them feel stupid in front of a customer is never the way to go.
The woman who gave the associate and I grief was probably 40-50 and had shoulder-length light brown hair with side-swept bangs. Didn’t catch her name but I believe it may have been Caitlyn. I hope for everyone’s sake she was just having an off day, but unfortunately I don’t...
Read moreNot a huge country western fan but I do like some of the clothes and jewelry. Boot Barn opened here in the La Crosse WI area about a year or so ago and it was nice with very polite associates. I don't know WHAT has happened but whoever is doing the hiring needs to really rethink their formula! Rude, arrogant, entitled and unhelpful. From the store manager down to the floor associates, this place has gone so far down hill it tripped over the tree roots and landed in a rabbit hole that leads to the garbage dump! Farm and Fleet, heck even WALMART, has nicer people to deal with. And that's saying something! Don't dig your spurs too deep there Boot Barn. With how you're treating your customers, you won't last too...
