I honestly prefer Walmart in Ottawa over Price chopper because Walmart has self checkouts, it's so much easier to get in and out lickety split just like that. Price chopper also seems a little bit more expensive on certain items however they do have more deals. The staff are generally polite and are helpful for the most part if you struggle to find something and even as a instacart in-store shopper here at Price chopper sometimes, if you struggle to find an item the associates are well versed with the layout of the store and as for customer service the place is excellent.
The store is always clean, it does feel a little small, especially when it's packed there's not much walking room in comparison to Walmart which is why I usually go to Walmart because aisles can easily get crammed and blocked if there's a lot of people or even medium traffic. I kind of compare it to Dollar general sometimes because of how it feels.
I truly feel like this store would benefit greatly from self checkout lanes because sometimes it takes forever to get through the manned cashier lanes. And considering they don't even operate all of the checkout Lanes at once, I don't see why they don't tear out some of them and put some self checkouts in there to make things easier.
One nice thing I'll say about Price chopper in Ottawa is that it's small and it's relatively easy to find things you're looking for. The parking lot is decent, lots of spaces and it's relatively easy to get in and out of without much of a fuss and traffic battling. Price chopper is located at the end of the fork at 17th and main so you drive outwards to the store and then back into town from the store, so they got that pretty well sorted out.
Ottawa music used to be where Price chopper currently is. But ultimately, due to how slow it can be getting in and out of there, I choose Walmart over Price chopper and I choose Aldi or Dillons in Lawrence over both. However I will say considering Price chopper was originally located where Country Mart used to be..
They should have kept the old building because it was a lot more spacious. Country Mart was my favorite place to buy groceries in Ottawa before it went out of business. Country Mart was spacious and it was easy to find what you wanted, the whole store just had a better design and layout in my opinion. I feel like Price chopper should have just renovated and fixed up the Old Country Mart building more instead of selling it off to that department store.
And although I'm not sure if they have curbside pickup for groceries at price chopper. I know Walmart does that. Instacart delivery guys like myself deliver groceries for Price chopper. So it does have that service.
Which I will say just as a tangent review, as a delivery guy that sometimes shops at Price chopper, I shop there at least six times this year because as I said above. It just takes too long to get in and out of there especially when it's cramped or crowded, or even medium traffic it just takes way too long. Self checkout lines would really help that or putting more people at the cash registers when there's more traffic.
But for the most part, Price chopper is a decent...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLet me preface this by saying Iāve used the Belton Mo price chopper 4+ times with AMAZING RESULTS. Every year for my kids birthdays. We just moved to Ottawa & my 2nd childās birthday was coming up so I called a week in advance to schedule 1 5ā smash cake & 24 cupcakes. I got a call from, Iām assuming, the manager a day before pickup. She stated what Iād asked for was too much. āHappy Birthday -my kids name-ā with a book on it. The person I spoke to had an attitude & spoke to me like I was stupid. She also degraded the ānew guyā who took my order, who did GREAT btw. I USED TO WORK IN A PRICE CHOPPER BAKERY. I know EXACTLY what can & canāt fit on a 5ā single layer. We ended up with a poorly done cake, with no top boarder, no variety in color, although I gave them a full list of colors & said to make it colorful. A pinch of sprinkles. I gave āfull creative freedomā & ended up with the least creative cake ever. The 24 cupcakes were SAD. I worked there. I know what colors the whipped icing came in, I mentioned I knew what colors the whipped came in & also listed colors I wanted from THAT SPECIFICALLY. Instead I got whipped white frosting that was terribly airbrushed. Not to mention, with the lack of notice I had to DIY a cake topper since they couldnāt meet any requests but the text on the top of the cake, decoration wise. Iāll go elsewhere from here on. Price chopper needs to step up their bakery because that was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI ordered a cake for my mom's Celebration of Life. When I went to pick it up the verse was not on the cake. The baker and person that customizes the cakes left and said she would do it the next day. Even though I had scheduled to pick up the cake for that evening. The young girl tried to write on the cake, it was misspelled and written in blocky print. The Assistant manager and another department head had no empathy, nor any type of apology. Basically they were both rude to me as I cried in the store. They told me I could take the cake as is, which meant paying $29.99 for a cake that looked awful. No discount was offered, nothing. No apology at all! That's not very professional to allow a cake for a special occasion to look like that and not take ownership of their mistakes. Bad behavior in the bakery and store managers. I have lost respect for their customer service and the Assistant manager. They assumed I was in the wrong even though I tried to show him the order on my phone. He just kept saying I need to see what they have. Funny, they had the same exact order and verse that was printed out laying on the cake box with a blank cake inside! They were in the wrong and I refused to pay for...
