Disappointing Experience with Style Encore Clothing Store
I recently had a frustrating experience with Style Encore that I felt was worth sharing for prospective sellers. Over the course of 2 weeks, I visited the store not once, but three times, hoping to sell my gently used clothing items, many of them had never been worn and still had tags. Each visit involved lugging a massive tote filled to the brim into the store—so heavy that I had to use a cart to transport it. Despite calling ahead and being reassured that they could accommodate me, I was continuously turned away for various reasons. .
The most exasperating part of this experience was that, on none of these occasions, was I informed that they had stopped purchasing regular clothing items. Instead, each visit ended with vague suggestions to return another time. It wasn’t until my third visit that they finally communicated that they were no longer buying due to surplus inventory.
To be clear, my disappointment isn’t about their decision not to purchase my items, (out of everything I brought in, they did purchase 2 items)—it’s about the lack of transparency and communication that caused me to waste my time and effort. Sellers should be aware that Style Encore appears to be quite selective, predominantly interested in high-margin, name-brand items. For instance, on my visit, I was only able to sell two pairs of brand-new Nike sneakers for a mere $14. A quick glance at their shelves showed similar items selling between $30 to $45.
In conclusion, if you’re considering selling your items at Style Encore, proceed with caution and ask pointed questions about their current purchasing policies. Their lack of upfront communication can lead to unnecessary inconvenience and frustration. I hope they make improvements to their customer service and communication...
Read moreI dropped a box off that was full of clothes and shoes at Style Encore on Saturday, July 5, 2025. I was told that I would receive a text when they had gotten everything checked in. Well, it’s July 8 and I still had not heard anything. I went back in today just to check on the progress and the woman at the desk asked my name and and phone number, and proceeds to tell me that they have tried to call me four different times and never got a response. I told her I can guarantee you I never received a phone call or a text from you all. She informed me typically what happens is if we cannot get a hold of you within 48 hours the items go to donation. I proceeded to say “So what you’re telling me is had I not come in today to check on the progress you all would have taken my clothing to donation!!??” She said yes… I was beyond furious!! How in the hell can you run a business like this, so completely unprofessional! I should’ve listened to my gut when I didn’t receive any sort of paperwork stating their policy. She asked the young lady to go in the back to see if she could locate my items in case they hadn’t gotten sent to donation yet. Luckily the young lady was able to locate them. She then informed me that I do have a store credit of $31 for the items that they kept. I asked for a copy of that credit just so I would have proof, she told me that they don’t offer anything like that. What pisses me off even more is that I won’t ever get my $31 back unless I buy something from them....
Read moreIt was my first time to a style encore. I was wanting to see if they would be interested in any of my items. I was pretty excited to check out their store. My excitement was shot down quick when I walked into the store and no one was up front to greet me. I stood at the front counter for 10 minutes before I had to look for someone to help me. I know it was 10 minutes because I watched the clock. After being signed in and told my wait time I wandered through the store to see what kinda items they took and if there was anything I was interested in. When I got my text my items were processed the gal that cashed me out could not have seemed anymore unenthused to cash me out. Pushed the bin with the items they wanted and said here’s what we can offer you. Is that okay. I said that’s fine. I took it upon myself to count how many items they took. And then had to ask what was wrong with my items they passed on. She said they are all spring summer and we aren’t looking for that. We need boots and winter items. I wasn’t upset about the items they couldn’t take nor the quote I accepted. I was upset with the poor customer service and lack of pride they had in explaining the process and asking if I had questions and explaining what they passed on. Unfortunately for them, I won’t be returning to...
