JCRH is the best rehabilitation nursing facility in the Southern Kansas City area. In mid-August, my 91 yr. old mom went into the hospital, was home for 10 days in October, and was released from JCRH mid November. Mom was at JCRH about a month (two individual stays). And the other hospitals/rehab facilities, it took up to 40 minutes for someone to respond when my mom pushed the button to call for help. At JCRH, the longest time that it took for someone to respond was 5 minutes! The RN’s, Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy staff are great here. Senea and Roman are exceptional RN’s. I can’t say enough positive things about them. Senea and Roman went above and beyond to give my mom excellent care and closely monitored her meds, vitals, diet, etc. with a kind demeaner. They both really care about their patients, their conditions, what is being done for them, etc., and it shows. Roxanne and Lilly are amazing RN Staff Aides! They both go above and beyond to take care of any needs the patients have. They care, and it shows in every interaction they had with my mom. Roxanne would chat with her while she was working in my mom’s room, and my mom loves her! Ask for Roxanne to help with your family member – they will LOVE her! Cynea and Ashley are the top Occupational Therapists at JCRH! Cynea is educated, professional, and incredibly kind while making the most of her time with the patients. Ashley is the same. They both love what they do, and it was apparent in every interaction they had with my mom. Ask for them if your family member is going to be here! Erin is the best Physical Therapist, and Desiree is a very close second. They got my mom up, walking, “pushed her” within reason, and are kind and great at what they do. Only negative experience in a month of working with JCRH Physical Therapy was with one physical therapist who was relatively new (been there about a year). We gave them a second chance and decided to request another Physical Therapist moving forward. There will always be issues no matter where you stay or your family member stays. Per my earlier review the JCRH Nutrition and Kitchen Staff is Amazing! Jennifer, The Head Dietitian and Nutritionist is beyond awesome, and really cares that the patients are receiving the meal plans specific to their health needs and does so with a smile! Jennifer and the kitchen staff Kim, Brian, Adam, Seth, Ke Ke & Stacy are ALL ROCKSTARS! The entire team goes above and beyond to bring my mom her meals, tell her where on her plate specific foods are (she is 91 years old and unable to see well), bring her additional items with a smile, etc. They care and it shows! Lastly, every rehab facility utilizes staffing agencies (mostly for the night shift), and the quality of the interaction with the patients/residents is “iffy” at best. Either my sister or I were with mom for her entire stay at any of the rehab facilities, and “visited” here at night too for a couple months (slept in her room in the recliner). JCRH provided the most consistently great care of my mom and hands down, I would recommend the staff here over any hospital or skilled rehab facility she was in over the 3+ months since her first stay in the hospital. I recommend JCRH and would go...
Read more"I recently spent two weeks at Johnson County Rehabilitation Hospital for occupational and physical therapy after a complex surgery. Despite some unexpected complications, including a blood transfusion and UTI, the staff took exceptional care of me. My CNA, Edith, was particularly outstanding, ensuring I had everything I needed and providing compassionate support during a challenging time.
Several nurses stood out for their exceptional care and kindness. Laura helped me feel safe again after a frightening experience with delirium, consistently checking in on me and addressing my concerns. Patrick, another exceptional nurse, not only ensured my physical well-being but also took the time to listen to my anxieties and offer support. Monica, my overnight nurse, made me feel safe and secure, expertly administering injections and drawing blood without causing any discomfort. Her kindness and warm smile brightened my day.
Gene, who was present during my delirium episode, showed extraordinary kindness and compassion, connecting with me on a deeper level. His sweet and caring nature made a lasting impact. Sonya, our "Mama Bear," prioritized our safety and well-being, radiating warmth and positivity with her infectious laugh and singing.
I appreciated the daily doctor visits and the challenging yet rewarding occupational and physical therapy sessions. The PTs and OTs helped me achieve significant progress, including improved core strength, better use of my left leg, and increased range of motion in my right arm, shoulder, and elbow.
Overall, my experience at Johnson County Rehabilitation Hospital was exceptional. I will miss the staff who became like family during my stay. Thank you for providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that helped me heal and grow stronger."
I added the details about Monica, Gene, and Sonya, highlighting their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion. I also emphasized the positive aspects of your therapy sessions and daily doctor visits. Let me know if you'd like any...
Read moreHaving been seriously injured in an industrial accident i spent 5 days in the hospital and 25 in JCRH. It was a horribly painful experience and will be another 5 months of hard work to recover. I have never been seriously injured before and have nothing to compare this to. However, I was treated like family by most everyone there.
Therapy: The therapist are amazing! Desiree, Courtney, Kasha, Abby, and KJ I could never say enough or thank them enough!! Much love for these women who hurt me so well. Great teamwork demonstrated by all the therapist! P.S. I’ve slowed down and haven’t driven yet!
Nutrition: The food was excellent and Seth runs a great kitchen. I would suggest taking a few minutes during orientation to explain how to use the menu. I was there long enough to figure it out, but it was a little confusing at first. Beyond that it was delicious and more than enough once I learned how to order.
Nursing: I’ve got to say that Dr. Dono was the kindest man that I’ve ever met. The nursing staff took very good care of me. My friend in the blue Durango was the best ! Wouldn’t have made it without her! Thank you Jenna ( my fav) and all the other CNA’s there were excellent! The only problems that I encountered with pain management were brought on by my own fear of opioids and miscommunication.
Administration: We encountered some difficulty because of my own unfamiliarity with health care, but i was able to communicate my concerns and see them addressed.
Thank you JCRH for helping me through the most difficult and painful time in my life. You are building a great team...
