I've been going to Hawaiian Bros since they opened their first location in Belton and it quickly became one of my favorite places to eat. I've also been to the Lawrence location and have experienced excellent service and delicious food. I was so excited for the opening of the Overland Park location as it's only a few blocks away from my house and I'd no longer have to drive out of my way to get my fix. I've been there about four or five times since they opened and have had only one good experience. My first one the drive thru line was horribly slow and the chicken I got was under-cooked and mostly fatty grisly chunks. I thought maybe they're still trying to figure things out and waited a while to go back before I tried it again. The next time I went it was a little better but still not what I was used to from the other locations. I went yesterday and this was the absolute last time I'll ever visit. Again, drive thru was slow as hell and when I got home I found what looked to be tiny pieces of black plastic all throughout my chicken. It looked as if a plastic spatula had melted on the grill and they just mixed all that up in with the food. Slow service and a miss here and there on the flavor is one thing but under-cooked food and food containing plastic is not edible or SAFE. I will be reporting to the Health Department as this place has some serious violations to take care of before they should be allowed to operate again. I'm sure the owner would be greatly disappointed to know their newest location is falling completely on their faces and poses a health risk to the public. So...
Read moreI've been to this location twice times now, in the span of 3 weeks since it opened earlier this month.
The first time I visited, a co-worker who is a regular at a different location recommended that I start with the Molokai chicken classic. Deliciously grilled chicken bites with a sweet and spicy sauce, that was accompanied by two scoops of rice and one scoop of their macaroni salad. My goodness, the flavors all worked perfectly but realized I could save half of the classic size and have leftover.
The second time I visited, I stuck with the Molokai Chicken but ordered it hot! Not as spicy as I would have liked but the flavor was still great. There is sriracha available to add but it was tasty nonetheless. I remembered to save room for the Dole Whip on this visit and shared with my son, it was the perfect summer evening treat!
I love the atmosphere but the music plays just a tad too loud outside. Will be visiting again soon.
I'm afraid that this location is losing their handle of the quality that I've come to know as Hawaiian Bros. Our usually delicious chicken smelled burned and lacked flavor, the always fresh white rice was wet and mushy, and the macaroni salad we used to be obsessed with was definitely less than a scoop and underwhelming this evening. I thought surely our favorite spam masubi would redeem an "off night", but it too was burned, flavorless and sad. We love how efficient the HB team is with curbside and drive thru but it resulted in lack of quality when it came...

So I ordered two large plates and usually the chicken is at the same level with my sides, so tell me why I barely have chicken? If you didn't have any more chicken just say that
Usually the four of us can share one large plate and save the other large plate for the next day BUT that was not the case, im very disappointed that I spent $30 for two large plates but was given two small plate portions
And to the guy in the window Customer Service goes a long way learn some!!!!!!!
(( I hope you guys can tell by the angles of the pictures))
I've been the to Belton and Overland Park location more than 15 times and the food is good BUT They need to be more consistent with the way they cook their chicken, I dont like chewing on fat or taking fat off my chicken before eating it (Most of the staff look at me crazy when I tell them to put it on my order to cook my chicken longer, and i have to explain myself as to why everytime and i hate that)
As well as the Honolulu chicken never taste like garlic, not even a hint of it
The Dole is good but you never know which flavors they will have, a daily or weekly...
