Last row experience and it was wonderful!

The front of this building was once City Hall of Oxford. I love the feel of the old wooden floors creaking under your feet as you walk in the main entrance. The theatre itself feels pretty much new, and very clean, but it valiantly mirrors a modern feel of being in some old Fox venue aesthetics-wise. Truly classic. Comfortable seats.

We sat in the center of stage right in the very last row. The seat was awesome and I’d see any show from the last row, again.

Accessibility… I wish the website were a little more clear on this subject, but the staff is awesome so just call if you have a specific question. Yes, there is one elevator for use for audience members to reach multiple levels in the building. It’s a good sized elevator, but can add time to your commute in/out depending on how long the waiting line is. We didn’t wait long at all. I wouldn’t consider the upper level for the most part easily accessible to those who can’t do steps. You can take the elevator to the upper level (balcony/box seat level), but it gets you to the middle of the upper and balcony section so from there you either have to walk up or down stairs unless you’re on a specific row or two (I think row C or B on the upper level). Having said that the handrails and stair height/layout are great, so anyone who finds stairs a challenge but can manage with help should be able to do these comfortably. They aren’t scary like some places. Just be cognizant of how far up/down you’re willing to go.

They have snacks and drinks with alcoholic options, but options might change based on the event.

My view from the last row was just fine. Housing such a small seating count (~1200), how couldn’t it be?!! I highly recommend this venue. Nothing better than a small...

I continue to be impressed by O.P.A.C. It's a beautiful, thoughtfully designed facility. All seats are good seats! There are specific seats for patrons in wheelchairs, and "hearing headsets" for people who need them. The parking is right across the street, though on a hill. There's a shortage of handicapped parking spaces so arrive early to snag one. Police officers are always on hand to help with traffic. They are courteous and help in general. Two things really set O.P.A.C apart. The first is the impressive extent of concerts, musicals, plays, shows, and community events, divided into various "seasons". This is one busy facility. Something is always going on so that there are choices to let everyone enjoy live performance. There's also a selection of shows and programs for children. The second thing this arts center should be known for are its volunteers. A happier, more helpful group of people you could not find. They exude excitement for the performances, as they help all the visitors from ticket taking and seating to problem solving, and saying good night. It's truly a pleasure to be around them. If you haven't been to O.P.A.C. yet, what are you...

On September 9 Shelia and I went to see Gary Puckett and The Union Gap at the Oxford Performing Arts Center. She and I were a bit nervous being in a strange place, but Elizabeth, one of the directors, approached us with a smile and asked if she could assist us. After that, we were treated like royalty. She asked us if we would like to meet Gary after the concert and we happily replied yes. The good folks at concessions gave us drinks and popcorn on the house. We were greeted at the main entrance by Merle, who spoke to us and was courteous, helpful, and kind. There were some other folks that helped us find our place in the handicapped section. The concert was great, and The Union Gap played all her favorite songs by the band. Afterwards, we met Gary and made our way outside to the van and one of the workers went out to us and asked how the concert went and if there was anything they could do for us. We were very touched by this, because we didn’t expect to be treated so well by the workers of OPAC. Thank you, OPAC, for being so sweet and helpful when we were there...

Without my approval, my husband changed the song that was played at our wedding after we said our vows. Tonight we heard Sammy Kershaw sing it himself. Next time we're making a sign. 😜 We do love our country music. Sammy is one of the best.
