So disappointed with this store. Disorganized mess even after being around for a year now. Still not sure how I'm supposed to browse the indie graphic novels. Everything is just thrown together new & used. And when I do find something used it's barely discounted from the brand new price. I've had similar trouble browsing the fiction section. Lotta out-of-place books every time I'm there. Do the employees there not bother with standard walkthroughs & proper re-placement? Then there's the vinyl section. They apparently buy anything. Most of the records shouldn't even belong in a .99 cent bin at a real record store, but then when you do find a pretty decent record it's ridiculously overpriced. What's their process?! Which led me to think to myself, hmmmm let's sell some stuff. Ah, but I'd be wrong! Selling things there takes way too long & they are too precious about condition. It seems your wares must be in like new condition, but they'll only offer you, like, 0.50 cents for something in near mint condition. I'll later see it on the shelves marked up quite high. They strongly push you to get store credit which wouldn't be so bad if the store offered anything worth a damn, but if you want cash in hand be prepared to be severely disappointed. IF this were a locally owned junk shop, I might not be so negative. I really wanna support brick & mortar stores, guys, but yer making...
Read moreNot really a used bookstore. They're only accepting books 3 years old or less for trade credit. They obviously have more used books than they can sell, but this is probably because their qualifications for accepting used stock has been very flawed in the past. Now they're overloaded with used books, and they've enacted an inane new policy.
I lugged three full bins into the store and they rejected it all except one book. What I brought in was mainly Christian apologetics and theology. Are you trying to tell me that there's no market for this stuff in the middle of Alabama? But I could also tell the girl looking at the books hadn't even bothered to pull the books out of the bins -- most were undisturbed from the way I'd packed them in there. She probably just sampled a few and rejected the entire lot. Is that showing respect to the customer?
I am consistently disappointed in my dealings with 2nd & Charles - not just this store, but others I've visited in GA and AL. I guess if you want stuffed animals, computer games, James Patterson and pencils with Star Wars erasers on their ends, this is a great store. But it's not a...
Read moreI had passed by this places numerous times and never checked it out until my son and I needed to waste a few minutes before an appointment. I could kick myself for not going in here sooner. It is such a charming place! There is literally something for everyone in here; music lovers, movie lovers, book lovers, even toys and plush animals for children, and figurines. They even have record players and vinyls there, CDs too, and some instruments!!! I could stay in this store all day and probably still not see everything they have there. The atmosphere is so laid back and calming. The employees are chill and friendly, yet still helpful and professional. I highly recommend this place for anything from just browsing to finding the perfect gift for someone. Five...
