I’ve been going to the movies since I was a child and I would say that this is one of the worst ones that I’ve been to. The mass chaos is absurd. No one actually checks tickets (bizarre, but whatever). We came in with pre-purchased digital tickets, but apparently didn’t really need them, lol. You have to just try to figure out your way around, with no clear direction for the ordering process for refreshments. There are signs that say to order at one of the kiosks if you need to pay with card, but the one kiosk we went to was cash only. We found another kiosk amidst the crowds and placed our order with an order # of 817. The signs said your order number will be called when ready for pickup, yet there were no order numbers actually being called. Then I noticed a digital sign showing order numbers being worked on & order numbers ready for pickup. These numbers were in the high 300s/ low 400s. So at this point, I’m really starting to wonder about our order for 817. So we wait in one of the random lines, hand the guy behind the counter our receipt and he tells us they’re out of the icees which we paid extra for already. I asked to see the manager (who walked right in front of us), but instead of coming over, she just handed him cash for a refund for the icees. We asked about drink refills and were told that we could “probably” refill our soda (again, bizarre). Then mid-movie, I go back to the counter and the same guy very curtly said no refills. I started to ask him about it, and he literally just walked away. As if I wasn’t there. No one else came over to assist. I waited, missing several minutes of the movie, and finally just went to fill the cup at the water fountain. The lack of organization and lack of efficiency at this place is mind numbing. And the “customer service” is disgusting. This is a second (yet slightly worse) experience recently for me and my family. Really disappointed that we’ll need to start driving further for a decent...
Read moreWe generally enjoy going to Palm Coast Epic Theater to see a movie on the wide-screen, especially on Tuesdays with the reduced admission price. Sometimes, however, the experience is marred by one or two chatty people who refuse to shut up during the movie. Upon reaching my limit of patience I will usually try to shhhh the noisy humans but almost always without success. It is extremely annoying and distracting and for me it ruins the whole Epic experience. Yesterday (1/28/20) we tried to enjoy “Ford vs. Ferrari” but a woman sat behind us and talked constantly to her husband throughout the entire movie. I asked her about four times to “please stop talking”. The first three times she pretended not to hear me and kept talking. On the final try (near the end of the movie) I repeated my plea several times until she finally looked at me and stopped talking. No apology. Just horrible. This experience was so bad that we decided to mention it to Justin the ticket collector on our way out. Justin was sympathetic and offered to call the manager; we agreed and he did. After more than five minutes of waiting for the manager to show up, Justin spotted her talking to someone behind the refreshment counter. We continued to wait for the manager to come talk to us. Obviously she saw us standing by Justin and knew we were waiting to talk with her. After a couple more minutes the manager started to walk toward us but then suddenly turned around to apparently go talk to someone else behind her. She was obviously avoiding us for some unknown reason. Frustrated, we asked Justin to tell the manager our story and left. I think an apology and explanation from the Epic manager is in order for her very rude behavior. Furthermore, in addition to telling people to silence their phones, Epic should tell people to please be courteous and not talk during the show. A very bad Tuesday at Epic Theater to...
Read moreThis place has significantly gone down hill over the last couple years. It's a clean theatre and the seats are pretty good, but that's about all this place has going for it.
We have frequented this theatre since they have opened, so it hasn't always been this way, but over the last year or so, we've seen at least a dozen movies here and we have certainly noticed a trend:
My biggest issue? The sound quality here SUCKS. EVERY movie we have been too over the last couple years, everyone in our group always agrees on this one. The audio in every theater is VERY quiet, to the point where you almost can't hear the dialog unless it's a loud scene with a lot going on. In addition to that, the surround sound is almost non-existent. When the Dolby Surround clip plays at the beginning of the movie, it's very clear that the side/back channels are either not working or turned way down in every theatre we've been in. There's also almost no bass at all; I remember when watching an action movie here, you could feel the explosion in the whole theatre. Now? If someone is talking in the row in front of you, you might not hear the same explosion.
All of the theatres are incredibly stuffy. It doesn't matter if we go in the summer, the winter or anywhere in between. There is no air flow in these theatres at all. We were just there the other day and I was sweating in a t-shirt and shorts.
Both of these problems have been complained about repeatedly, but the kids what work here don't seem to care and they definitely don't seem to be conveying the message to anyone who is willing to do anything about it. Shame, we loved having a local theatre, but now we have to resort to...
