I find it fascinating that the reviews written by my son and I about The Estate Sale in Palm Springs are totally missing now after five years, even though I see positive reviews from that time period. I also find it incredulous that Kandi, the owner is actually answering disgruntled people via Yelp reviews. She could have cared less and certainly never replied back to me. I brought my entire estate’s furnishings to The Estate Sale and never received a dime. I should have took Kandi to small claims court. I brought items totally $8,000. A painting I have a receipt for $3,000, a new Ethan Allen console, McGuire deep cushion outdoor chairs (4) and glass table. Honestly too many things to even mention. I called and called The Estate Sale, I was put on hold so many times I quit doing it. Emails went totally unanswered. To this day I am shocked and saddened this happened. I also see the Yelp review that a man mentions he took Kandi to small claims court and won is suspiciously not available to read. I am encouraged that Kandi now has a conscience and is actually trying to improve, I guess that’s what she is doing. It’s my guess she has greatly profited by her shady business practices.
Addendum to the above comment. After approximately five years Candy cut me a check for the money she owed me. I was very pleasantly surprised. She read my reviews. ...
Read moreThis was my first time here and I will definitely be going back. I was in these stores (yes STORES!) for about two hours and I’m sure I didn’t see everything!
I walked into the first store, which I thought was new and was impressed with the enthusiasm of the gentleman that worked there - he greeted every person and offered to help. I asked him how long his shop had been open and he said, “Oh, no, this isn’t my shop, I’m just the attendant.” He went on to tell us how Sharon, the owner, and her family created the first consignment shop at the other end of the block and grew it into 5 buildings after being told the business wasn’t a good idea! I love hearing when people do something they’re told they can’t and they end up doing it bigger than they ever imagined - especially a business woman!
He encouraged us to visit the rest of the buildings, joking that this is like a furniture history museum, except you can buy the exhibits! We walked through and were amazed at how much was housed in what seemed to be a small city. Everything from amazing to not so much - if you’re looking for it, it’ll probably wind up here!
With all the consignment store competition, acknowledging a customer goes a long way! We visited Misty’s, Palm Springs Consignment and Consign Design and didn’t have anywhere near the experience...
Read moreThink twice before consigning anything with the Estate Sale Co. in Palm Springs. They are just terrible to deal with.
The whole business seems set up to make things as difficult as possible for consigners.
But it gets worse: I consigned an antique Chinese box that we used as a small table. It didn't sell and when I sent to retrieve it, the top was bent and one corner was floating a good 6 inches above the side. Steve told me: "that's how you brought it in" which was an absurd lie. I have before and after photos (uploaded). I said to him: "Would you have taken an item that's so badly damaged you couldn't possibly sell it?" to which he replied: "Go talk to Candy."
Candy, (the manager?), couldn't have cared less. "The receipt you signed says 'as is' she snarled without even looking up from her desk.
First of all I was never asked to sign anything. Secondly, does "as is" give them the right to do whatever they want to my property?...
