This was our third unit we’ve rented at Moonspinner because the location is ideal. Quiet and easy to access! The overall facility and condo were very clean. The pool and hot tub and baby pool are well maintained. The staff is friendly. (Be sure to ask Carl at the gate about his dad’s service with General Patton on WWII.) However, the particular condo we rented (unit 715) had a long list of issues: No strainer for pasta (least of the concerns). Bathroom doors on second bedroom stuck so badly we could hardly open them. The bed frame by the door in the second bedroom made so much noise no one could sleep in it (much less anything else without everyone hearing). The electrical outlets need updated and they need to add more. Don’t bring more than one item you need to charge at night, and expect that item has a 50/50 chance to charge. Plus, it will not be bedside as there isn’t a plug bedside on either side that reached the night stand (except if you pull out the bed frame to access one behind the sleigh bed frame). If you like your toast always burnt on one side—every time, no matter the setting—when the toaster actually works—this is the place. The ad says it has cable TV. Not true: is ROKU TV only. We had to use our laptop and our own streaming account to watch the NBA Finals, and the TVs are older so we couldn’t cast to them. Be prepared to watch a lot of British Baking Show and old westerns. Bring gloves or use a kitchen towel to turn on the light over the dining room table. It cuts into your hand to switch it off and on. You’ll revisit your 1970’s childhood with the outdated and cheap shower heads in both bathrooms. Water shoots out like bullets onto that fresh tan. The bathroom for the main bedroom is so small the door doesn’t open all the way and your knees will hit the cabinets from the commode. Not great for larger individual, especially since the commode sets very low to the ground. The TV in the second bedroom wasn’t working. We finally figured out that if we flipped the cord’s plug and pushed HARD into the recessed wall plug it would come on. Be ready for nights filled by scratchy, cheap sheets that are pulled so badly you would think you are sleeping on sand. Finally, the 8-page contract Book That Condo has you sign requires a scanner and a fax. No e-sign PDF or online forms here, no sir. Cozy up to your friend still living in the 80s now so you can hit their equipment up.
The decor is nice and the place is organized but the number of quality issues made it a frustrating visit. This is nice condo and the owners could put a few hundred dollars into it to make it so much better. Nice sheets and replaced outlets aren’t that expensive but would have made a...
Read moreThe condo was great. It was clean and fit our needs for 6 adults and 3 children perfectly. We arranged to get in early for $50. That was well worth it. However, since this unit is designed to sleep 10 – the assumption that there would be more than one car is probable. We had to pay an additional $40 to park the second car across the street. We’ve never had to do this before. I believe that this fee was determined by the owner, since the office had to check the unit number. She stated that each unit was different. This should have been included in the rental fee. The kitchen table sat 8 people but it was extremely narrow. The kids sat at the bar so we managed. A wider table would have been better. Also, in your description of the unit, you should indicate that there is a Keurig coffee maker. If we had known, we would have also brought some pods. There were certainly enough plates and cups – but the silverware was a problem. I texted the office that we didn’t have any teaspoons. They delivered 6 teaspoons promptly. I noticed later that there were only 8 forks. After another text, three forks were dropped off. These were the smallest forks I have ever seen. This condo is able to sleep 10 people. There should be a MINIMUM of 10 of everything. We had to keep washing the forks by hand to have enough for each meal. There were plenty of knives. Our only other complaint is that the baking sheets were disgusting. If any guest is planning on using them – bring foil or parchment paper to cover them. Some small dishes for ice cream or dessert would be great. The kids used the giant cereal bowls. FYI: Not since Covid have we seen a condo/house so completely empty of everything – not even salt and pepper. So be advised that you should bring all spices, oils etc. with you because there is literally nothing at the unit. The kids enjoyed the games at the condo and the beach equipment (pails, shovels, nets, etc.). The balcony was a wonderful place to relax. However, the handle on the sliding door was missing and that made it hard to open and close. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We would definitely rent this condo again but I would bring some plastic...
Read moreWe would of given a five star but this condo is in need of serious maintenance and deep cleaning. This is our third time staying at the commodore. The previous experiences were great. This one was not as nice for the following reasons.
We paid to check in early between 12-2 We did finally receive a text around 1:10 that we could check in but the funny thing is we were at the property all morning and that condo was never cleaned. I mean no one went in and out after we arrived at the condo around 10:00 so why not let us in at 12 noon? Both showers were dirty. I did inspect the condo for things to report but it never donned on me to check the shower for cleanliness until it was time for bed. We of course did not call because of the late hour we just cleaned it and left. The kitchen leaves so much to be desired. We have stayed at dozens of vrbo’s and Airbnb’s and have never been to one so poorly stocked. No baking sheets, dishes with chips and cracks, The pool was closed for the first two days. I understand maintenance but this was not a last minute thing and we should of been advised before arriving. The overall appearance of the condo is dingy. Holes in the walls, both bathroom doors are screwed, and nailed together with nails sticking out. Pieces of baseboards missing, outdated appliances, dirt in walls, and what looked like blood on the master bath door. Terrible beds we all fought over sleeping on the couch.
Positive things! Location is PERFECT close to everything. We walked to patches pub twice. The view is amazing and the heated pool was fantastic once it was repaired. The new ramp/walkway to the beach is a wonderful update. Check in procedures are really easy to follow and understand.
This place is in a great location. Patches Pub has great food and drink specials every night. The balcony view is perfect and each time we visit we are dozens of dolphins. The particular visit our condo needed a deep clean and a few more items in the kitchen that should be standard. Day Cajun place and Taylor’s are fantastic and close. The booking was easy, check in...
