Cool Runnings Caribbean Cuisine — Restaurant in Panama City Beach

WARNING TO ALL MOLDY FOOD! I loved coming to this place and visited on every vacation to PCB. However, on this occasion I went in and found a lot of their store food was open and just sitting there on the shelf. When I told them they didn't even bother to come and move it at all. When I asked him about items they were out of they told me that was all they had, even when I asked them if they had any in the back not put out yet. After buying hot food and some of their store items me and my family went outside to eat. We both commented how the hot food was not as good as it used to be as the rice was mostly uncooked. The curry chicken had mostly bones. And the potato salad didn't have much flavor to it. This was surprising as this was one of my favorite stops in Panama City Beach. The problem began when one of my family members began to eat on some of the food we bought in the store only to find that it was stale. I was going to just take the loss of the five or six dollars until we started tasting everything we had was also stale. I had spent around $40 and realizing just about everything I had was stale I immediately went back inside. When I went inside and told them about the food being stale, I expected a refund since they told me they were out of everything which is why they said it wasn't on the shelf. However to my surprise they just reach behind them in a stack of unopened boxes (stacked taller than they were)and pull out replacements for everything! I don't understand with all the food missing why they told me they didn't have anything else?!?! And all these boxes were directly right behind where the cashier was standing!!! Especially since the shelves was filled with open food. I don't know why they didn't replace these items?!?! But that was not the worst part! After taking the food they replaced I went back outside and decided to taste them all again just to make sure these were fresh. And to my disgust they were all stale and I couldn't taste one of them as I opened it I saw mold all over it!!! I ran back in and was so angry, I said your food has mold on it! They didn't even try to give me a refund of what I lost... they just reached in the drawer and instead of giving me my full refund they gave me $7 in cash! Now I am Jamaican and my family is Jamaican. So I know that a Jamaican place can do way better than this! I would usually stay there and argue but something told me just leave it and never come back!!! Me and my family stopped to pray that we did not get sick from what we had eaten already! I do not know what happened to this place, it was so good that we look forward to going there every time we vacationed! Seeing how run-down everything has become, I RECOMMEND NEVER EATING HERE FOR SAFETY!!! Sadly even the food they just leave it all out there open for bugs or anything else to get in there especially on a day so warm! And they are right near the warm ocean. I cannot think of what happened to this place but I'm praying that someone takes over and makes...

I used to eat a lot of Caribbean cuisine when I lived in Virginia and I loved it. But I left Virginia over 25 years ago and hadn't had any real Carribean since the 90's. My wife and I were in Panama City Beach in November, 2022 and she told me about this place. I went in and there was this beautiful round-faced lady with the darkest skin and hair and she a strong island accent. She was very nice and cheerful as she took our orders. It only took a few minutes for our orders to come up. We got back to our hotel and when I tasted my food, it was the best Caribbean food I had ever eaten, hands down, no contest. Ox tails, rice and peas, and the cabbage was delicious, especially since I have eaten cabbage, but was never impacted at all by its flavor. LOL The ox tails were trimmed perfectly, flavored perfectly with just a hint of "zip" to them, and the meat fell away from the bones. The rice was moist and fluffy but not slimy with hard grains here and there. The portions were stacked. Surprisingly to me, the cost wasnt much more than I paid almost 30 years ago, and this is a tourist town, which is why I expected the food to be quite a bit more expensive. We left with enough food in our boxes for each of us to eat twice, three drinks, and an order of jerked chicken by itself, and had not spent $50. And my wife loved the food as well. She gave me some of her jerk chicken....same story. Perfect. I'd recommend Cool Runnings to anyone, whether you want Caribbean cuisine or just a good meal. I'll be back in...

Two stars only because the food is good sometimes. I have ordered from this business several times, I usually call to pick up my order. Idk why I call in advance and still have to wait 10-15 mins for food this already prepared to be plated. I usually don’t give poor ratings but I recently took some friends to dine because they wanted a taste of yeh Caribbean. I was truly embarrassed by the poor service that was rendered to us. Again I called are order in 15 mins in advance knowing it would take us about 20mins to reach 4 large plates or food. Upon reaching we had to restate our order in person I asked what was the purpose of phone orders. I was then not answered by the rude employee. Now I usually take this rude behavior because the food reminds me so much of home. But this time surely was the last. I know customer service is poor in the origin country but, in America customer service is key. Food needs to be more consistent and the quality of service needs to rise. If there was serious competition they would lose many customers. Food portions size I must admit is good for the dollar but the attitude you receive for spending your money at their location...
