Today was my first visit to a Netcost grocery store. My girlfriend is Ukrainian and we wanted to buy caviar and some of their specialty items. Before traveling for 40 minutes to their Paramus store we checked their hours and saw that they close at 9 pm.

We arrived at 7:45 pm and started to make our way through the aisles. They have a wide variety of interesting products and we spent no more than 15-20 minutes before making our way over to the fish section where they sell caviar. When we approached there was no one at the counter in this area and the section looked closed. There was caviar on display in a case behind the counter but no one was there to get one for us.

My girlfriend politely asked the woman working at the adjacent deli counter if someone could help us and was met with a very rude and inappropriate response from an apparently angry employee. Instead of engaging in a pointless discussion with her, we asked for a manager. The employee reluctantly pointed in a direction near the registers and then ignored us.

We went to look for a manager and got absolutely no assistance from anyone who was working there other than a very kind security guard who identified the manager and wished us good luck, knowing that we would probably not have any success.

The store manager on duty was working at one of their registers and she couldn’t be bothered. She refused to help us and wouldn’t explain why the website doesn’t tells customers that the store closes certain sections earlier than others.

The item we intended to purchase is packaged caviar that doesn’t require anything more than someone giving us the container and charging us for our purchase. We intended to buy their high end caviar so you would think they they would have incentive to make a sale.

The reason for the low rating is entirely because of very poor customer service and the bad attitude toward customers that seems to be shared by managers and employees of the store. The security guard who was reasonable and willing to listen works for a separate company so it was apparent to me that this is a Netcost culture of bad customer service. We are reasonable people and we were not asking for much.

A Taste of Eastern Europe Babushka here in New Jersey. 🪆

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🇱🇹🇵🇱🇺🇦🇧🇾🇪🇪🇷🇺

NetCost Market, Paramus NJ

If you’re searching for authentic Eastern European groceries and specialties, NetCost Market in Paramus is a one-stop shop that truly delivers. The selection here is impressive and feels like stepping into a market from the old country.

They carry a wide array of deli meats, smoked sausages, and specialty provisions that are hard to find elsewhere—perfect for anyone craving the flavors of Ukraine, Poland, Russia, and beyond. The Ukrainian food section in particular is a standout, offering delicacies and pantry staples you rarely see outside of Eastern Europe.

The bakery and dairy sections are enormous, featuring everything from freshly baked rye breads and pastries to an incredible variety of sour creams and cultured dairy products.

Don’t miss the hot food bar—it’s convenient, tasty, and feels like homemade comfort food. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or dinner to go, it’s well worth checking out.

Overall, NetCost in Paramus is a treasure trove for lovers of Eastern European cuisine. Highly recommended for both everyday shopping and special...

Great new store, lots of hard to find items. Prices are decent on most items. Fish market is small but fresh selection. Bakery great as well. Produce is ok but pricey. Dairy selection including Tvorog and Kefir is probably the largest in all of Jersey, with ok prices too. Large selection of prepared cooked and smoked foods which are all mostly fresh and delicious.

One word of caution! I have shopped here at least a dozen times, and every time the register has overcharged me on items. Manager(tall blonde in black suit) who seems overwhelmed at times, claims the register issues are not her fault, but she insists it is the programmers fault who has not programmed the system correctly, yet I have never been under charged always charged over? Sorry but thats not what customers want to hear. How about, we are very sorry this has occurred and we are working hard to make sure this doesnt happen again!

Other than that place is clean, decent parking, and staff is nice to deal with. Deli staff is a little inexperienced and slow, but maybe over time thst will change for the better. Meat department counter guy seems clueless, I asked for fresh sausage, and he didn't know...

Normally, I would give Netcost in Paramus a 5 star rating, but this morning shopping experience was very unpleasant, and honestly the owners should make a big change. The older woman at deli section was so rude and I am pretty sure she cursed me out in her native language. She should not be there, because she does not understand english. I ask her if there is low sodium meat and cheese and she has no idea what I am saying to her. Then I ask for slice cheese, and she directs me to pre-sliced cheese on side. But that cheese was sliced last week on 8/1/24 and today is 8/5/24. I explained I want fresh slice of cheese and she gives me a block of cheese. When I explained again, I want sliced. She rolled her eyes and spoke in another language towards my direction. I feel she should not be interacting with customers, and misrepresent Netcost. Her frustration is she does not understand me and she gets upset at me, cause she does not understand my language. Also why does Netcost not provide fresh sliced cheese? I don't want cheese that will expire sooner that what I need.

Amazing specialty store. They sell all the classic foods I grew up on: lox, herring, blintz, etc. The food looks delicious. The breads are baked fresh by the bakers working away right in front of your eyes. The fish and meat counters looked very appetizing. The store is brand new and it looks that way. It’s very clean and well staffed. I’m quite impressed. I hope they maintain this standard of cleanliness. The parking lot and entrance/exit are dangerous. Dead ends and confusing signage make it difficult to navigate. Be careful! The store is not overpriced and I would even say their prices are comparable with any supermarket for the non-specialty stuff. I took some pictures of what interests me the most: lox herring and blintz. Yum yum! Can’t wait to return.
