If I could give 0 stars and write my review I would. Today I experienced one of the most disgusting encounters with an employee in regards to my autistic son who is 5 years old. The employee was dismissive disrespectful condescending rude and so much more I can’t even express but you could only imagine. On November 2, 2023, I took my autistic son to the CEC in Paramus where he was so excited to be and play. While my son was playing, his eyes were drawn over to the trampoline area where there were many kids playing and jumping around in. As a parent of an autistic, non-verbal child, and knowing the safety concerns, I was curious enough to ask the attendant in-charge of the trampoline area , if my son would be able to jump for a few minutes alone when all the other kids cleared out during break time. I was completely aware of CEC’s Autistic Program, only being (1) Sunday a month for (2) hours and in the day in question, not being a Sunday, we figured we could only ask if an accommodation would be possible for a few minutes. Some parents may understand my frustration but many I’m sure will, when you have a son who does not understand all the red tape rules , I felt that asking a few employees to see if they’d be able to accommodate for a few minutes, would not be a problem at all. At this moment, after receiving an approval of allowing my son to jump for a few minutes, we paid his way, just as everyone else, and when confirming with a manager, by the name of Andre, he rudely stated CEC could not remove all the kids just to accommodate an autistic kid. While expressing our concerns and in attempt to having a conversation with this gentleman, he became very dismissive and told me all he could do is refund our money and that CEC only accommodates autistic kids the first Sunday of every month for two hours and not on this day in particular. This then started a completely unnecessary and unprofessional encounter with this particular employee which was completely beyond me. I have to say this was the most hurtful encounter I have ever been through while being a parent of an autistic child. I am my sons advocate and I have been coming to CEC location for years now, as it is my sons favorite place to be HIMSELF. CEC having taken another step forward in creating more inclusive opportunities for autistic individuals throughout the lifespan, from childhood through adulthood making a world of difference for all people with autism, I believed that it would be a place with more understanding individuals/employees. There’s a way to speak to ALL people and it’s called with RESPECT. I hope that no one or family, with or without a disability, ever has to encounter such disregard and disrespect like I did. And to top it all off he was laughing and smirking like it was funny or even a joke. Then proceeds to tell me he has autistic brother who’s 7. Which surprised me since his behavior towards my autistic child was disgusting. Two other employee intervened and were stun by his behavior as well. This needs to be addressed...
Read moreWhen we first came in they asked us for a photo of me, my husband and daughter together. I was confused at first but the lady explained that there were lots of kidnappings going around...😳 We've been to other chuck e. cheese locations a few weeks before and was never asked for a photo and just given the icon number stamps. I did understand but I was confused and a bit shocked because...was it just this location? Or is it something new that all locations are starting? Either way I did appreciate that they prioritized safety! My biggest fear is having my child kidnapped so it gave me a sense of ease but I would probably still like the number stamps to be a second check!
We usually go to the Wayne and East Hanover, but this location has a HUGE play gym along with the trampolines. My daughter loved the side! Reminded of the huge gym Chuck E. cheese used to have when I was a kid - only a lot more clean. It's also not free. Which we don't mind, but since they have the big gym it's $18 with socks included. The other locations we go to is $12 since they just have the trampoline - fine with us because it made our girl so happy! I also read some negative reviews about the socks and having to pay extra - honestly it's great so that we don't get hurt, it has really good grips on the bottom so no slipping! Keeps the play area cleaner too!
Food was okay. Nothing crazy. We usually eat before going so we really don't go there for the food, but today we wanted a bite and order a platter with cheese bread, fries and wings. Not bad, just okay. Not a big deal for us - mainly come here to let our girl just have fun lol
So yea overall I would say it was better than the other locations we usually go to because of the bigger gym area. Oh and they have good games too! Whenever we're in the area we will definitely pass by so our girl can have some fun and get her energy out!
4 stars because even though there was a height limit for the gym there seemed to be bigger kids playing in the gym area. (I'm 5'1" and they were almost my height!) Wish the height limit was smaller for the safety of the...
Read moreFirst of all this location Chuck E Cheese is not deserving 0 Star!! They will promise you everything, but in reality it will be very different. The store manager Carlos is very rude and very unprofessional. He has blundered all the things. Literally Carlos made the fraud to us.
Basically they have taken more than $150 from us which I feel it's a scam or fraud.
BEWARE guys for this Paramus Chuck E Cheese location!!! You should think 10 times before you book any party or even to come for 1 hour of play. Their service is very very bad. Also Pls beware with Mr. Carlos, the store manager who cooks Pizza and sometimes he will come outside and will say wait for 2 mins, but he won't come back for 30 mins also :) Horrible and pathetic...
