Review for Harley-Davidson of Paris, Texas – Service Department
My recent experience with the service department at Harley-Davidson of Paris, Texas, revealed more than just aggressive upselling—it exposed a deeply concerning culture where revenue is prioritized over rider safety and consumer rights.
I brought my bike in on June 4, 2025, paying out of pocket for functional repairs only. I explicitly declined cosmetic work and expected transparency. Instead, I was handed a vague, handwritten estimate with no pricing—only verbal assurances. It wasn’t until I cited Texas Administrative Code §87.77, which requires a written, itemized estimate, that I finally received one. A staff member later admitted this wasn’t their standard process, which speaks volumes about how many other customers may never see compliant documentation unless they demand it.
As the work neared completion, just before the scheduled delivery on June 30, I was suddenly told I should replace the steering stem bearings for $900. This came after the shop had already accessed that very area during fork alignment—without noting any issue at the time. This last-minute push echoed an earlier attempt to upsell me on scratched but structurally sound triple trees, which I had also declined.
But what truly crossed the line was what happened at delivery. The driver made it clear: no bike gets unloaded until the liability waiver is signed. I was put in a coercive position—sign this broad, one-sided document or be denied access to my fully paid-for vehicle. The waiver was not about safety; it was about shielding the dealership from accountability after a failed upsell. If the bike was truly unsafe, why was it being delivered at all?
This wasn’t an isolated interaction. In my view, it’s a systemic issue rooted in dealership leadership, where staff are pressured to prioritize sales over ethics. It reflects a business model built on exploitation—pressuring customers into speculative, expensive repairs with no conclusive diagnostics, then covering their tracks with aggressive paperwork.
Most people wouldn’t know how to push back. Most wouldn’t know the legal standards. I did—but I shouldn’t have had to.
Consumers deserve more than this. If you’re considering this dealership for repairs, understand the financial and safety risk you may be accepting. You could end up paying hundreds more for unnecessary repairs—and still be forced to sign away your rights just to retrieve your motorcycle.
These practices are driven not by necessity but by greed. A dealership backed by wealthy ownership should be capable of operating with integrity—not squeezing every dollar from working people under the threat of liability.
I will be filing a formal complaint with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and Harley-Davidson Corporate. Others...
Read moreI was lucky enough to find a 2021 Sportster S in Crimson Red online here exactly one week ago and before the shop even opened I received a call from Billy Jack. We spoke about the availability of the bike briefly then I told Billy Jack I wanted to buy it. When I say this man is phenomenal, that is most definitely and understatement. Billy Jack made the buying experience super easy and to top it all off, He was apologizing for what he perceived as a difficulty in gathering info on my part. I easily got prequalified and then a couple more formalities and the process was complete for now. Living in Georgia, I had to fly into Dallas and take a rental to Paris. Easy enough right? Wrong!!! No rental company would allow one way travel in the area for whatever reason they thought appropriate. I was in constant text conversation with Billy Jack (mainly because he is a solid person and was genuinely trying to help me in anyway he could. I told Billy Jack my plight and that It would take a little time to figure things out or get transport. Now, I did not want a transport because I wanted to ride that beast 840 miles back to Georgia (not through LA though, yuk). Check this out, Billy and the team at Paris Harley offered to pick me up at the airport. I was amazed, grateful, and most of all humbled that a dealership was this concerned about ME not themselves. I am still floored over how I was treated. I have purchased many bikes in my life, this was about 400 percent better than any other experience. If you want a Harley and this dealership has it, fly, drive, walk or crawl there on your hands and knees to get it. You better ask for Billy Jack as well because you will have a friend for life afterwards. As for the Sportster S........best overall I have ridden in years and pure fun! I only wish that everyone could have this type of an experience in all purchases. Paris Harley Davidson has something a majority of other dealerships lack. They love their product, their jobs, and most of all you as a customer. God Bless...
Read moreIf you are looking To purchase a Harley-Davidson, you should make the effort to check out Paris Harley-Davidson in Paris TX. 1. They are the only Harley dealer I have ever been to that had ever model HD on their show room floor to check out and compare. 2. Their sales team will make every possible effort to come up with a deal on their motorcycles that will work for you. If you have bought multiple motorcycles over the years you already know that most dealers don’t. 3. Their sales staff is fantastic. They will not try to pressure you into buying something you don't want and really put in the effort to find out what you want and are looking for. They really care about how you ride and what you mostly spend doing with your motorcycle. From there they will tell you what they have that will fill that use. 3. I have dealt with over 10 different motorcycle dealers and owned over 12 different bikes over the last 20 years and Paris Harley-Davidson is the only dealer I can say made me feel good just being there, and put a...
