I went there tonight for dinner. This place was highly recommended. Well spoiler alert: my experience was abhorrent at best. The soft product was not up to par for the price of the meal I ordered. I actually feel gypped. I could tell something was wrong from my waitress’s tone of voice. She was not happy. Either to be there or maybe something must have occurred. But she was not welcoming at all. I almost felt like I was some how burdening her. Usually I would ask to seated somewhere else in order to get a more palatable server. This time I did not do that. I find myself being very paranoid about being labeled a make Karen. So I sucked it up. That was a huge mistake. A mistake I will not be repeating anytime soon. I ordered the ribeye medium with a baked potato and a salad. The salad came first. It was okay. The main course came after about 20 minutes. It was present with a, “ here you go sir”. And that was it. No refill of my sweet tea, no “anything else”. Nothing. Just “ here you go sir” and disappeared. Well the steak was hard, dry, and well done. Did my waitress ever come back to see how the steak was? Nope. She literally just disappeared. As I was looking around the restaurant for my waitress, another server saw me and came over to see what I needed help with. Ladies and gentlemen this lady should have been my waitress. He was the ying to my waitress’s yang. I told her about the overdone steak. She apologize and then offered to have it remade, but again with the male Karen fear, I turned that down. Then apologized for taking up her time, then decided to eat it as is. Where was my waitress all of this time? No clue. The nice waitress came back over with my waitress in tow. She joined in the apologizing then decide to ask about if I want more sweat tea. Lady, I’ve already been here for almost 45 minutes and you now ask me if I want my drink refilled? After my $35 meal was ruined. I sat there for another 45 mins to see if that level of service was the culture of the place. It was not thankfully. That earned them another shot tomorrow night for dinner. During they time waiting there not once did my waitress come back to see if I needed anything else. Not even to see if I needed desert. Nothing. The tiramisu looked really good by the way. The steak was seasoned very well. Were it not for being overcooked it would have been a contender for best steak I’ve ever had. Even though both the hard and soft product sucked on my first outing here, I am willing to try them again. Based on what I saw and tasted, I don’t believe my experience to be the norm. Though I’m not sure I’d gamble another $35+...
Read moreGood food and atmosphere. The lights are low and with the dark wood and decor could see this as a neat local date night for basic, casual Italian. We went for lunch and the host and waitress were both very pleasant and attentive.
Our meal started with 5 garlic rolls seen in most Italian places, soft and fresh. My hubby ordered a house salad, which was definitely the better option. My Caesar salad was drenched in dressing that had a heavy hand of grated parmesan and had little to none of the expected anchovy zing normally found in that dressing.
The Pasta Sampler had a smooth marinara that was on the light side from others I have tried. The spinach ravioli was good, the lasagna had a lot of meat, but barely any ricotta, and the manicotti had an ultra light ricotta filling, not the denser texture expected.
The Brinkley Special had thin pounded and sliced grilled chicken and sauteed veggies. It was the healthier option and tasted as such. Not bad at all, just not the flavor punch of heartier Italian dishes. If you are trying to be good, it's a decent choice.
I would go back again for lunch as the prices were reasonable and...
Read moreDecided to go here because it had decent ratings and looked good. Glad we did! Fortunately it was pretty dead on a Saturday night and we were seated right away.
The bread rolls were very tasty and semi-soft. Definitely request marinara to go with them for dipping. For an appetizer we ordered stuffed mushrooms. This was the only miss of the night. The sauce they came in was delicious, but the lobster was fishy and definitely tasted like it wasn't very fresh. For her main course my fiancee ordered the spaghetti with the works, which had mushrooms, Italian sausage, meatballs and meat sauce. She enjoyed the flavors greatly and the meatball was seasoned very well.
I ordered the chicken alfredo pizza and it was very tender chicken, with a great tang to the sauce accompanied by a plentiful amount of fresh mozzarella cheese. I would recommend.
For dessert, she had a lemon marscapone cake, while I had the tiramisu. Both were top shelf and rival anything you find at four star Italian restaurants.
All in all I'd recommend for anyone visiting the Paris area. We will definitely be back the next time we...
