By far the worst experience I have ever had working with any business, organization, or institution. My wife and I have been treat so poorly, I honestly don't know how Gavigans can operate a successful business. If I ran my business the way they do I would lose my license. This all began about a year ago when we purchased furniture in cash (first mistake), only use credit with these scam artists so you can dispute your purchase. Upon delivery my wife was home with our infant child and was strong armed by delivery men claiming the couch didn't fit. We were forced to send the couch back due to her not knowing any better and the delivery men not even trying to fit the couch in our house. We had to pay a $500 dollar restocking fee. We bought another couch however this time I was home, once again the deliver men did not even make an attempt to fit the couch in my house. They claimed there was no way it would fit. I told them to leave it and I got it in my house in 15 minutes. I believe the first couch would have fit, the delivery men were clearly incompetent and were not willing to move the couch more than just walking it in the door. They were insulting to me and my wife, and called me an idiot in spanish ( surprise I can speak alittle spanish). No one at Gavigans even attempted to help us, and most employees were rude. So basically they stole $500 from us. Fast forward to less than a year later and the couch is broken. Lol. What a garbage product. Better yet they will not honor their warranty. I've been lied to multiple different times by various employees at many different points during this horrible experience, the other day a lady yelled at me on the phone haha. They are making up every possible excuse to not honor their warranty. A $1,200 couch should not literally break in less than a year. The upper management hides behind customer service reps who will not give you contact information on the people in charge. The owner of this business is clearly not interested in standing behind their products, or making their customers happy. We already fixed the couch ourselves, clearly poor design and product luckily it's so poorly made the broken wood was easy to access. Read moreWe ordered a sofa and custom end tables to go with our purchase back in February, over 4k in furniture. We were told multiple times they could still get the sofa from the manufacturer although they didn't have an exact time-line. Never once have we received ANY updates on the status of our furniture. Alvin only called us one time to offer us the floor model sofa for the original price minus the sales tax, which when I did the math was literally $64 and some change. Since this was in the middle of a pandemic and the floor model sofa had been seen and sat on by who knows who...we declined and were once again told we could still get our new sofa from the manufacturer and we would (As I specifically asked Alvin before declining the offer). So I called yesterday on 4/24 to check on the status of our order and am told we can NOT get the sofa!!!! So noone was going to notify us until I called?!?! We went up there today to speak with the manager Valerie and was told by her and Alvin, we can NOT get our money back for the tables we ordered because they were custom. We would NOT have ordered these tables if we could NOT have gotten the sofa, which we were told multiple times we could! Also if we were notified in a timely fashion without me having to call about the sofa perhaps the table order could have been canceled!!! These people not only lie about conversations they had with us but also what they told us!!!!! I should have known something when I saw the parking lot empty!!!! Also asked to speak to the owner and VALERIE SPECIFICALLY STATED THE OWNER DOES NOT TALK TO CUSTOMERS!!! And they still don't have any status on the tables!!!! PSA!!! After being told we couldn't get the sofa we wanted we called around and found an online furniture store that offers free delivery and ordered the Simmons Bellamy Sofa and Love Seat in Slate Blue!!! THE SAME EXACT SOFA THEY TOLD US THEY COULDN'T GET MANUFACTURERED!!! The online furniture store priced matched as well!!! The lady we spoke with said Simmons is indeed still manufacturering this sofa still just behind due to Covid and we will have our sofa in 12 weeks (which we waited longer than that to hear nothing from Gavigan's). Read moreReview of Gavigan's Furniture Store - Parkville, MD Date of Visit: August 31st On August 31st, we visited Gavigan's Furniture Store in Parkville, MD, to address an issue with the color of two barrel chairs that were delivered to our house on August 30th. The chairs appeared to be a different color than the sample we initially selected. We brought photos of the chairs and compared them to the swatch, and it was clear that they did not match. Upon arrival, we spoke with Allison, who promptly sought assistance from another staff member. Unfortunately, Rob Gavigan approached us with an aggressive attitude. We had no idea he was the owner due to his behavior. Throughout the conversation, he was extremely confrontational and dismissive of our concerns. When we questioned the difference in color, he bluntly told us that we were wrong. I asked if we could take the swatch home to compare further, but he refused, citing the upcoming Labor Day weekend. When I inquired about possible solutions, he suggested that we disassemble the chair and bring in the recliner piece—a suggestion that seemed unreasonable given that we had just spent $2,400 on these chairs. He even flipped a chair over in the store to demonstrate how to take it apart. Instead of offering to send someone to our home to assess the situation, he mentioned getting in touch with his representative. During the conversation, he made a comment implying we lacked common sense, which I found highly inappropriate and unprofessional. This comment escalated the situation, leading me to express my frustration. The staff member then identified himself as the owner, Gavigan, and proceeded to chase us down in the store, shouting at us and telling us to leave. His behavior was unacceptable, especially in a customer service setting. I have worked in customer service my entire life and have never encountered such an individual. Overall, this experience was extremely disappointing. We expected better treatment, especially after making such a significant purchase.
