(1) Our new house by NTH has countless flaws and problems that I am spending 20 months long chasing guys coming to repair and touch up and feeling extremely exhausted. The workmanship is far under my expectation and does not reflect the price we paid for !!
(2) The wood used for cabinet (upgraded), hard wood floor ( upgraded) or door frame are fragile that have lots of chip or small fragment or cracking at many certain surfaces that showed the quality of building material are not as good as we could get. Lots missing paint and missing caulking for the gaps. So as the Granite (upgraded) where has cuts on the edge of surface that affect the beauty of the stone. This Granite cost more than $4000 and not fair to give us the one imperfection that hurting me.
**Speaking of Great floor, Jeremiah who asked me to pay $900 more for the fireplace tile installation which was not in the Contract. He sent me invoice statement. He charged the extra labor for the changed tiles. The changed tile agreed by Gary and himself due to the tiles were not my original selection that Jeremiah showed me at his office. I made change before technician started the process. Gary and Jeremiah knew about that. Suddenly, they acted differently. I refused to pay them. Jeremiah is not trustworthy! He never did follow my original selection that did cause several conflicts as a result.
(3) Indoor Air quality is very poor and unhealthy, there are endless tiny white piece of particles frying around into air when heater or air conditioner is on each and every time. The air duct did not seem to be cleaned in a thorough manner and the dust or dirt or sand remain inside.
(4) A better option for the buyer is needed that NTH design a nice cover or solid door for Furnace inside the garage as the Furnace unit are exposed and unprotected, the wrapping plastic cloth is not particularly well liked by me and it does look cheap.
(5) The unfinished drywall are surprisingly poor condition. They are highly unpleasant and distasteful. Loose tapes and messy mud and cuts can be seen from the wall and ceiling, and dirty caulking glue around the concrete base that the guys had not done the job well as so called "standard" and did not made cleaning for us after construction as well.
And right hand side of the lower drywall showing large gap along the wall due to the gypsum board were cut too much away and could not cover completely to meet the concrete base that created long opening. The workers covered the spot with pile of left over painting material, bags of grouting powder, tile pieces, wood panels that blocking our sight and unaware of the existing defected area before signing the closing documents. They covered the site because they didn't want us to see. Very mean and unprofessional!
Recently, we cleaned the garage and found this undesirable issue and reported to Gene, they just ignore my concern and email that remarked Gary had discussed with us a great deal at meeting. That was totally liar.
Also, the garage floor are full of hand tool marks that had not been done advance wet buffing process. Wondering NTH saved the buffing cost and labor. Gene said that was their old way to do the garage???
We going through extreme painful experience. They were hurting my feeling and killing my patience, they always have busy schedules and keeping me waiting 18 months for guys to come, on and off. I tried to push harder enough and never giving up to have problems fixed By Warranty work orders and get our new home look better that we deserve.
I still remembered that a law firm represented NTH sent me a letter of "cease and desist" and asking me to delete all the reviews because they thought I was abusive . I told the lawyer my review was all truth, nothing but the truth. So, I could write the reviews just like other people did.
All in all, my review will give one star only. All those 5 stars reviews are lucky buyers? And we are not as lucky as they are? (An very...
Read moreNew Tradition in Tri-Cities leaves a lot to be desired. Many of their issues with build stem from a poor project management by the NT personnel, their management of their sub-contractors, and the sub-contractors themselves.
The issues we have are ongoing, some small such as electrical gremlins that the warranty folks weren't able to identify, despite a clause of "must resolved" being added to our closing paperwork. We continue to wrestle with electrical problems to this day and from what I've seen installing some cubicles, the culprit is poor craftsmenship.
Others issues stemmed from general contractor incompetence, or perhaps, negligence. The landscaping work was not well done and we had several issues with soil erosion due to leaking irrigation system. There was a large hole near an irrigation line which they neglected to backfill and simply laid sod over it which was a real hazard and could have hurt someone. Great Floors is pretty unprofessional to work with, and the process for selecting finishes seems arbitrarily constraining and inflexible.
In general, it seems the sub-contractors New Tradition selects use cut-rate labor leading to bad quality, presumptively to win the bid. The savings New Traditions pockets and yet they charge their homebuyers premium prices. Another example of this is the Energy Star rebates for reducing things like waterflow to appliances which the home buyer has to live, yet New Tradition keeps.
Lastly, the Windermere realtors who act as liaisons between the contractor and the customer are inattentive and not punctual. We had two agents, both of which seemed to have trouble keeping track of details. If you buy, expect to constantly pester them for information when critical dates in the build approaching so that you can have a chance to make decisions before they are too late.
I'd look to another builder in your area if you are wanting a new house. For the prices charged, the headaches you will have to deal with just aren't worth it. If Gary or Paul are involved in your build, be advised early to strongly consider someone else. These gentlemen are more interested in making money than making you happy...
Read moreAsked for a survey form they give you when you move in because my ex took it when he left, and when I called AND emailed I was told an outside company was doing them and New Traditions didn’t have them. I call bullsh* t. They can get one from another home owner or make a copy and send me one. They didn’t because I had tried to get some things fixed that weren’t being handled as I was told they would be. So they would t send me one because I had many complaints. I called to have electrical fixed and when Prairie Electric came out I was told it was wired wrong. Really?! I told him to make sure it gets fixed. Well, two years later and after many calls to New Traditions warranty department and a complaint with the BBB, I FINALLY got a call from electrical place and they finally came out to “fix” it. They had continually told me they’d come out and I had a two year warranty that was far from over when I called. But no matter how many emails or calls they came out and made excuses as to why they could t fix it from, “That L & I changed ratings etc. No they didn’t! I called L&I and spoke at length with a woman, who laughed when I told her what they kept telling me. They NEVER came out to paint a spot on my living room wall that had a dry wall seam showing and came and died it but never came to paint over it. I waited three weeks and get tired of looking at it so I painted it. When I did call or email the gal there, Jennel Dompier, she was a bit rude for no reason and I did call her out on that and she did apologize. Was give the run around on several things. The landscaping company they used was just as bad. Hell of a hurry to get it done as New Traditions wants it’s money. I would not but a home from New Traditions ever again because of so many problems. I could put more, but that’s enough! You...
