I personally don't even feel comfortable giving a 1 star rating but there's no 0 star so whatever. I want to begin by saying that Mary's Bakery has been my family's go-to bakery for the past few years. I was in search of a birthday cake and was recommended to go to her. I go in and show her a picture of what exactly I want. She went back and forth with the price. Did not have a set price and every little detail of the cake she wanted to charge an extra $10 or so. She also claimed to be able to make the cake exactly how I want it. The same colors and everything. When I go to pickup the cake, the cake is a grey/purple. Meanwhile, I showed her a black cake. I told her the cake is not black, and she refused. She kept saying it is. As far as I'm concerned, I am not color blind and the cake was NOT black. I showed my friends that cake and they too said the cake was NOT black. It bothers me because I am paying my hard-worked money for something that I want and it doesn't come out as expected and there's absolutely NOTHING I can do about it. No refund. They can't fix it. Do it over. NOTHING!! This place is really money hungry and they will take your order even though they are not able to or know how to make the cake the way you want it. Rather than being straight up and saying they don't know how to do it exactly like the picture you show them. Then, they also gave me the cake with no cover. The moment I walked out her door, rain droplets fell on the cake FROM HER DOOR. So I go back in and ask her if it can be fixed. She said no because of x,y, and z. And her assistant kept backing her up saying "That's not even noticeable". WHETHER IT'S NOTICEABLE OR NOT, THIS IS NOT WHAT I ASKED FOR!!!! She kept saying with the flash of the phone for pictures, it will appear black. I was truly so upset because these are things that could've been avoided if she would've told me she doesn't know how to make the cake I want. SO here I am, paying a lot of money on a cake that didn't come out how I wanted. A cake that came out a whole different color. A cake that got messed up from droplets of HER door leaving HER bakery and she refused to fix.The professionalism is HORRIBLE. The customer service is HORRIBLE! They scam you with high prices. I definitely recommend to go elsewhere. AND I am not the only one to have a horrible experience. I have friends that I recommended this bakery to that also had a similar experience. Paying for something that looks nothing like what they asked for. WE NEED TO RAISE AWARENESS AND LET OUR FOLKS KNOW OF HORRIBLE BUSINESSES LIKE THIS!!!!! DON'T BE AFRAID TO SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE...
Read moreI am in disbelief with this business and the owner. How you guys claim to be the best in town yet treat your kind with disrespect. My family every year comes and supports her business for all our birthday occasions. I went in the beginning of the June to speak to the owner. She told me to come back in July two weeks before the date of my order. I went and talked to the owner about the details of the cake that I specifically wanted AGAIN. She jumped straight to the price and told me to text her the info of my cake a week before. Now it’s a week before??? Uhh, that’s not how it works, you’re suppose to write down the details as we speak.. not have me remind you through a text about the cake or it’s details.. (but w.e I did so.. no reply what so ever) Now, I gave a deposit down to secure my cake for that day. I had no problem putting down an excessive amount but now that I called to “confirm” the order of my cake just as she told me to, they’re trying to PLAY ME and say I NEVER MADE AN ORDER. That I never paid and to top it of I never spoke to the owner. Calling me a liar. WRONG. I got proof. We will see who’s lying when I show up with my receipt that they were so hesitating on giving on the day...
Read moreThis place was highly recommended by a friend. I was excited because Grinny's cakes were starting to disappoint me. The icing was fine, not too much and not too little. When I cut the cake for the first slice, it was nothing but cake. Hardly any filling in the middle. It was the tiniest slither making the whole cake super dry. I ordered it with the dulce de leche with hopes that I would get a generous amount of it as a middle. The cake was for a very small party so I had a lot of left overs. The very next day I cut a piece to eat and the middle dulce de leche was sour. It tasted very "acidy", wish there was such a word. I'm assuming they used very old milk to mix the filling. I'm very disappointed in my cake experience with this place. I wish I can get my money back. I will not be ordering cakes from this place again. They don't even deserve a star. The point of the matter is that a cake a day after should not taste like rancid milk. Something went sour, something was not fresh. The reason I didn't come forward to your establishment is because I live in Pennsylvania, 74 miles away. It doesn't make much sense...
