Here is a message I sent with my cancellation. I wish for it to serve as a warning for future or current members of their unprofessional practices.
Dear Body Shop,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you of my decision to cancel my gym membership effective immediately. I have been a loyal member at your facility for quite some time, but a recent incident has left me extremely disappointed and frustrated with the level of service provided.
On 5/3, my wife and I visited the gym to inquire about opening a new membership for her. Since we had our children with us, we asked the staff if it was permissible for the kids to stay in the lobby while we completed the paperwork and worked out. Initially, we were told that it would be fine for them to be in the lobby as long as they remained there.
However, shortly thereafter, the same staff member who initially approved our request informed us that there had been a sudden change in policy, supposedly conveyed through an email. We were informed that children were no longer allowed in the gym premises at any time. This inconsistency in information provided by the staff was both confusing and frustrating for us.
Furthermore, during this interaction, I had brought a guest with me and had paid the $10 guest pass fee. However, given the sudden change in policy and the urgency to remove our children from the premises, I politely asked if I could leave my guest at the gym for a few minutes while I took my wife and kids home. To my surprise, the staff member bluntly replied, "No," without providing any further explanation or attempting to accommodate the situation.
As a paying member, I find this treatment unacceptable and unprofessional. I strongly believe that the lack of consistency, the inconvenience caused to my family, and the refusal to allow a temporary arrangement for my guest demonstrate a disregard for customer satisfaction and basic courtesy.
Considering these circumstances, I have decided to cancel my gym membership immediately. I value professionalism, clear communication, and a supportive environment for both myself and my family. Regrettably, the recent incident has made it evident that these standards are not being upheld at your establishment.
I kindly request that you process the cancellation without any undue delays or complications. I would appreciate confirmation of the cancellation. I have active and fit direct and should not owe you anything for this cancellation.
