Iâm sorry to have to change my opinion of Cat Care of Fayette. We just had to euthanize our 17 year old cat. As long as we brought Doe Doe in for shots, a well-check-up or a nail trim they were great, but when she started becoming ill, it was a different story. Last weekend she became disoriented, meowing loudly and was looking to only drink water from her bowl and outside fountain. We called Cat Care on Monday and they told us to bring her in on Tuesday morning for a blood test and a full exam. Dr. Tharp then called us around noon to tell us that Doe Doeâs kidney levels were very elevated and she was dehydrated. There was no cure for this, only management, as her kidneys were failing. She would need IVâs twice a week from now on and a renal diet. She was also losing weight and needed an appetite stimulant drug. With this treatment she could live maybe another year. We agreed to everything, paid our bill, and took her home. However, the following morning we found she had still not eaten throughout the night or had much water. She had a little bit to eat that day, but in the afternoon she stopped eating and drinking altogether. The next day, we saw her trying to drink water, but could not swallow. At that point, with a heavy heart we called Cat Care and told them that we did not want her to suffer and that weâve opted to have her euthanized. The receptionist spoke with Dr. Tharp who then wanted to run another blood test and charge us another $125. I asked why, as they did a blood test only 48 hours prior and told us she was terminal. We did not want to do that, we had already paid them $624 two days before and we just did not want our cat to suffer. She checked with the doctor again and she said we should bring her in for another IV treatment and see how she does. By this time I was very upset and realized they didnât have our catâs best interest at heart, they just did not want to lose a paying customer. I then refused and said that we just wanted to have her put to sleep and returned to us for the fee that they originally quoted us in the event this had to happen. They then said they would have to charge the extra $125 for the visit and for âworking her inâ that day, even though she already had an appointment to have an IV done....
Read moreThis is to all the people who want to make sure that their pet is taken care of and given the best care possible. If I could give it a zero, I would. I took my rabbit in a couple of weeks ago for itching. We got into a room and then we saw the vet tech Rebecca Pittman. She took him upstairs to do the exam, we had no idea what they were doing to him. It turns out that he had mites and we got him treated for that. Rebecca brought him back down. She was telling us how to care for my rabbit, which would have been fine, except it was wrong and her attitude was rude. She told me that I needed to give him more greens and that we were not doing a good job of caring for my rabbit who I have had for five years. She told me that greens were 80% of his diet, which in fact they arenât because when they handed me the first-time care package on the feeding chart for a rabbit is said 8%. After she left the room, we finally got to see the vet and she was in there for maybe a minute. Very unprofessional and when I told her I had been giving him Benadryl for the itching, she said I will have to look that up to see if you can give the Benadryl. Well, she made a note on the receipt that he can have 1 ml every 12 hours. I have never heard of giving my rabbit that much, so I gave him .5ml. After that he was almost comatose for a day. After we returned for the second shot for mites, we got the same vet tech. She then took him upstairs and 30 minutes later came back down and told me that I need to handle him multiple times a day and that he is so reactive. She was telling me what to do with my rabbit which is not what a vet place is for, its for information and caring for my animal. I then told her that I do hold him many times a day and she cut me off and didnât even listen. My rabbit is not a reactive rabbit he is just scared of being in a place he doesnât know and with people he doesnât know. My rabbit, just like any other animal, is sociable with the people he trusts. I am writing to all the people who are thinking about going here, just to let you know that I will not be going back because of the wrong information given and the disrespect from multiple...
Read moreThe owner of this establishment quite literally killed my dog. I had been with this dog my whole life and grew up with her. Long story short my sweet girl Easter was placed in her hands to perform a surgery on her hip. Anybody with common sense knows that youâre supposed to keep a patient on watch after a major surgery. Iâm not a doctor and I know that. This âdoctorâ was so negligent that she sent my girl home without proper after care ultimately leading to her unfortunate death. When we spoke to her after the fact, you know what she saidâŚshe said they didnât watch her because âthe office was about to close.â Any âdoctorâ whoâs worried about their office closing rather than the well being of the patient does deserve to refer to themself as a doctor. My sweet girl did NOT deserve to pass the way she did, in pain and in agony. All because of the negligence of someone we ultimately trusted with her life. Now, im not a vengeful person because I know my sweet girl is in a better place and that the energy you put into the world will always come back to you. However, I would like to urge any other pet parents who consider their pets family to think very carefully before placing the life of your animals in her hands. (Iâve included a picture my sweet girl. I did not include the pictures of her while she was passing as they were...
