This is going to be a huge review.
My wife and I have been looking for a date night spot in Peachtree city a little over a year and a half since we moved here. We have tried fun places professional places midprice places and even dive. So far consistently, everything has been a let down.
Georgia shrimp company always had people outside on the porch and I know that it has been in Fayette county for many many years. When we went in a few Thursdays ago we were not expecting the experience that we received.
Thanks to Covid and staffing issues we had to wait for our evening meal but we understand that that is exactly what the world is like and the host was incredibly accommodating and kind to us. So we went to the bar to go grab a drink before our table.
The girl at the bar blended an absolute perfection of a martini with blue cheese olives! For my wife and for me poured a German half of Eidson the same way the Germans do. I know it might seem like a silly point but the bartender knew not only how to prepare mixed drinks but also how to treat different beer styles and it was served in the appropriate glassware. These are small touches that really do speak to the quality of this restaurant.
When we got to our table the waitress was incredibly prompt kind and very welcoming. We immediately ordered the fresh shrimp appetizers as well as our main entrées the shrimp and grits as well as the shrimp sampler platter for my wife.
The restaurant was extremely clean and decorated simply yet classy. There were no crumbs on the floor there was no tacky decorations up, and the table is not sticky! The wine list is extensive as is the drink menu in general. Even a large fish tank near the back is expected yet exceptional.
While we waited, fresh bread and real butter came to the table. Again this is a small thing that doesn’t actually make a difference to people who care about the quality of every ingredient that goes to the food.
The appetizers for excellent. The service was incredibly prompt and never dipped off the entire evening. The shrimp and grits were absolutely fantastic. Some of the best I’ve had in many many years. They were slightly on the salty side but overall they were so rich and delicious but I could only eat 75% of the bowl. My wife shrimp or cooked to perfection, each variety was done so well.
We must have said that we have found our new date night spot six times to each other. For an impromptu journey to a new establishment it met and exceeded all of her expectations. I do not think this place to gets Enough attention and praise: but come to think of it I don’t want more people there to make my wait longer! There’s no question in my mind that this is one of the best restaurants...
Read moreOK I was impressed! First, when I looked at this place over a year ago, I was turned off by the menu in that it's named "Georgia Shrimp Company" but it's like they had everything but seafood on the menu and nothing stood out. Both sides of my family are from the coasts of Georgia and Mississippi so I love seafood, especially shrimp and crab. Now, circling back around to it at present, I asked our server, to make sure I wasn't going crazy, about the change to the menu and she confirmed my thoughts.
OK, so my wife and I went here for a "date night" while I was home. Georgia Shrimp Company is not all fancy and get all dolled up. We didn't over dress or anything and this isn't a fancy stuck up environment. It's laid back as some other reviewers have stated. Our server was also very helpful and nice. Thank you Katelynn (please excuse if I misspelled it). We had the appetizer sampler with fried oysters, fried shrimp, calamari and grilled shrimp. All fried items were fried perfectly and had great tastes and textures respectively. Our entrees were the Lobster Thermidor and the Bigg City's Pasta. My wife subbed mashed potatoes for the rice and it was a solid swap. They do fame themselves on their lemon rice so it would have been nice to try it but hopefully on our next visit. My wife ate all of her dish which is amazing and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I found that the claw meat was slightly overcooked but she didn't complain so no harm/no foul there. The pasta was well cooked and not overly spicy, very enjoyable degree of kick from the andouille and spices. The cream sauce was not to creamy and plenty to coat the noodles which were done just right. Food temps were good from apps to entrees. The sweet tea was spot on too! No alcoholic drinks or desserts so we'll do that on the next visit. The entrees did take a while to come out after our appetizer but all three were hot and fresh; not seeming to be waiting under a heat lamp. Also, there is a sign on the door that apologizes in advance for any delays due to their staffing shortage. Apparently, it's in the kitchen. Front of the house host and waitstaff seemed plentiful. The food presentation was no frills; white dinnerware and no garnishes, sprigs or dustings so if that's your thing you will not find it here. All flavors worked and it tasted like something that I'd cook or go after myself. The menu is more consolidated and our server told us that after COVID & staffing issues, etc that they put all the bestsellers on the menu. Smart move! I'd like to come back and try more! The app sampler alone is enough for me to come back for! Great job and looking forward to our...
Read morePatrons BEWARE: Tonight was a very distasteful night. Unfortunately this has to be addressed because this is not the first time this has happened. I thought I was going to eat at Ga Shrimp Company however I was greeted with several roaches crawling on the linen of the table so now I will refer to this place as Ga Roach Company. Rewind back to November of 2022, I was in the bathroom of this location and reached for a new roll of tissue & (inside the brown cardboard of the tissue) were a harvest of baby roaches 🪳🪳🪳 that ran out onto my hands. I advised Suzanne (GM) of the issue and she stated it’s been an ongoing issue with their supply of cardboard boxes the tissues come in. I Tried to be understanding of that time. Came back again tonight and 2 roaches were on the table , I knocked them off and they ran under the booth. Called the young lady over who was an acting manager who did not offer to comp our meal or rectify the situation whatsoever. She stated Anthony (the owner) is doing renovations which is not an excuse! If you can pay to RENOVATE then you can pay to EXTERMINATE❗️This place is INFESTED and the health department needs to investigate immediately. I am seriously concerned for my health and patrons who have eaten and will eat here. My appetite is forever ruined and GOD knows what kind of 🪳eggs are laying around on cutlery , glassware etc. Patrons since their is a DIM SETTING , be vigilant and watch your feet , the walls , & the floor. Hopefully you don’t have to experience what we did tonight....
