Past several years I've been a customer of the pekin store and would and have recommended to friends and family. But not right now. Wednesday the 5th I went to the store to purchase a Milwaukee battery and charger. Had to have it Sat the 8th the associate suggested I order on line for better deals and I agreed would be better. I also learned of special buy a 50$ gift card get a 10$ free limit 2 cards so I went back Thursday around 5:30pm and purchased two 50$ and 1 100$ cards the two woman running the cash register didn't even know about the special and made couple calls to I assume was manager and district manager before agreeing to allow me to purchase the cards. I also asked about a special they were having on car keys, 50% off of cutting new key and programming fob. She had to look at the store flyers and said yes it's still running, then told the other cashier " wow that looks like fun" . I went home and made the purchase of battery and charger on line and got to pick a tool free to go with the purchase. I picked a Sawzall. It said my purchase would be ready fri morn. Fri morn I received an email that my purchase would be ready Wed the 12th.i went into the store around 1pm Fri, and was told the battery and charger was there,( he showed it to me) and was told I could not have it til next Wed, even though it was paid for. Said I couldn't have it because order was incomplete. I even told him to drop the Sawzall from the order and after a call to his boss still refused. So I tried to be understanding and asked if the battery's in the store were charged, the same girl who didn't know the key special said yes 50%. I thought well I was going to get a second battery at some point and I had to have one at all cost for sat to repair my son's brakes, I decided to purchase just a battery. Even then, the battery I picked(same as the one I paid for and couldn't have ) was reg 159.99$ on sale for 99.99$, the same girl tried to charge me the 159.99. And when i got home to try the battery, it was dead. I tried to find someone to charge it, no good. No way was i going to give ace another 100 $ so i went to farm&fleet in morton for a charger. So now I have a battery and charger, dont need the one at the store. After a week or so i went in and and asked for my order and told them i wanted to return it. The only way she would refund me was to put the money back on the gift cards also said that no way did any of her associates were trained to say the batterys come charged 50% .i guess she was calling me a liar!! From my experiance, they were not trained at all!!! So now im out 200 for the gift cards and didnt even get the free tool, a 129$ item so cost me 429$ for a...

Got a new key made for my car and went to put it into the ignition. When i turned it, it snagged onto my tumbler in my ignition. Put it in my door, the thing got stuck in it. Took it out, there were obvious teeth marks in the key Ace made me. We printed it off of a key i had made the same day at The Lock Shop in Peoria which we had zero problems with. Asked for the manager to pay for half the cost of the repairs considering the key he made me bent the inside of my ignition switch, locking it in place. Had the guts to tell me they werent liable because it wasnt a print from the original key, totally disregarding the fact that it gets stuck in my door and had obvious marks on it from when I put it into the ignition. We went into Pekin Ace Hardware & TJ wanted to take my diaper bag. I asked why & he said there is a sign on the door. I asked if this was a new policy and if it only affected Pekin location or was a corporate policy & he didn't know even though he has been with ACE hardware for over a year. I called Morton & they do not have a backpack policy.

I have a 19 month old & a 6 month old. I need my diaper bag for milk, toys, snacks etc.. not to mention I don't carry a purse & leave my wallet & phone in my bag.

I'm sorry people steal, but that policy is inconvenient. But I'm glad there are other ACE locations bc Ilike to use my reward coupons.
