Taco Bell — Restaurant in Pekin

Ordered on their app after it not working for months. Got to the place not 10 minutes later only to be told they gave the order to some guy claiming the same name who had just left. They asked if it was an order for "John", no, under last name "Johnson", woman's first name. Kept asking if it was under a different name and then I read them the order number and they insisted they'd just made it. Definitely never using the app again because they freaked out my Mom who was afraid her credit card would be compromised, and it might be as we didn't get a clear answer how some random guy knew what name to give. And getting an app message over an hour later that the order was done? Did they not get it until after we had come in? Given that they checked the order number and claimed it was what walked out with the random guy, I really don't know. They remade the order. Since we were that we asked for the quesadillas to be double cooked, which they did NOT do, meaning they were barely toasted and warm, on top of them barely having any meat compared to what we'd had in the past. We tried the new cheesy steak burrito that's been in commercials, and while it didn't taste bad with no sauce or fiesta strips, it only had maybe 8 small pieces of steak and they were all on one end. The crunchy taco had more meat than any of the 3 quesadillas or the burrito.

Between the headache of the order issue and the attitude and bold faced lie of the girl who slapped together the quesadillas who definitely didn't double cook them (unless they've changed the standard and now only barely melt the cheese and call a virtually empty tortilla that's warm good enough), I can't see a reason to come back. What fillings we got didn't taste bad and going light on the sauce meant less stomach upset, but it's not worth the stress and $25 by a long shot. Super disappointed because my Mom used to like this place and made a point to try and give them business during harsher pandemic days. Will be contacting corporate tomorrow about the issue with the app ordering to make sure the credit card used wasn't compromised. If they can't investigate and find an answer by end of day I'll be back noting that because a risk to customer payment card security is a big deal now and not something to brush...

This food was so good. this is the first review I have ever written so yk I mean business it was so good. My boyfriend and I got two $5 cravings boxes, and omg they were banging. We went through the drive through, the staff was super polite and we were in line for at most 3 minutes honestly. The food was SUPER quick. I open the box, and eat my chalupa first. Omg I've never had a chalupa but it was amazing. Then I tackle my taco (I got a soft shell). That thang was thanging okay? It hit THE SPOT. I was full from those, so I saved my burrito for the ride home. It also came with cinnamon twists, which I thought I didn't like, but turns out I LOVE them. they were nice and warm and everything was cooked to perfection. Can I just say how AMAZING it was for them to give us a whole baggg of hot sauce??? I have NEVER gotten this from McDonald's or any other restaurant, not to mention the prices... I can drop at least 30 bucks on my boyfriend and I for one meal each at McD's. I only spend 11 DOLLARS (TAX INCLUDED) on these DELICIOUS cravings boxes. The boxes also came with a drink so yk I had to get a Baja blast. It was FANTASTIC. Taco bell has changed my life. It's now my go 2 restaurant. (Also their food doesn't make my stomach hurt, and I have a VERY sensitive stomach). If you are reading this and are wondering why tf I took so much time out of my day to write this incredibly long review, I've got a few things to say to you. I was already having kind of a low day, I didn't feel good. This tacobell knight in shining armor saved my day. This tacobell has like 3.7 stars too and I think that's crazy. My McD's has a higher rating and it smells like cat pee and BO in there. I never knew good customer service until I went here. You might say it's the bare minimum, but I don't care. I would also like to say that putting in rewards on the app is SO much easier than McDonald's or any other app I've had. I got 100 points for spending like 10 dollars!!! Additionally, they r open until like 1am and that is amazing for me for the late night runs. Also, their sign said that they're hiring for 15 bucks an hour and I think that's wild. The employees are clueless have no idea what they are doing or how to deal with customers. Waited over 40 minutes for 2 burritos literally. So noticed everyone that came after is now getting their big ass bags of food while I’m still waiting for 2 burritos. Brought it to the employees attention and he tried to make it seem like they were being pushed out in order when obviously not true since me and 2 other lady’s still haven’t gotten our food so response now is “ Well we only have 2 employee making the food” mind you or u they have 3-5 employees walking around not doing anything cause they are being told not to clock in! The kind lady behind me asked them for a manager the response from ANOTHER employee was “I’m not to sure who the manage on shift is” like excuse me!? How do you not who u you our manager is!? The employees need properly trained on how to deal with customers this place needs better management. Also one of the fountain drinks on the inside is broken nobody is doing anything literally not even putting a sign to let other know...
