I took my daughter to lunch here the other day. She loves sushi (Ming’s has a decent selection) and I love Chinese food, so it was a good compromise for us. It was a pleasant experience until we went back to get a few more pieces of sushi. There was a cook, working behind the sushi bar, restocking the food. The rolls were displayed in rows and I took a piece that was two in from the front of the row. The reason I did that is because not all of the rolls had the same ingredients. Some pieces had avocado and some didn’t. I love avocado and wanted avocado in mine, so I took the first roll that had avocado. The cook was watching me and stopped what he was doing, quickly walked over, pushed the front two pieces back, walked back to where he was working, looked back at me, and said “f@&ing s@t”. Yup, he cursed at me in front of my 12 year old daughter because I took a piece from the middle and not from the end. He very easily could have said something in his native language and I would have had no idea what it was, but he wanted me to know what he said so he said it in English. I was super upset but my daughter begged me not to make a scene. So I went up to pay (I did not want anyone to think I was just trying to get a free meal) and told the lady at the front what happened. She apologized and said that she would tell her manager. We left and will not be back. I would rather drive 20 mins to Morton for sushi than to ever step back in that establishment. It was beyond ridiculous.
Edit: I feel like this incident was handled correctly by management. My daughter has been back with other family members since then. She has said that there is a different guy there now and he is very nice. Adding stars for mgmt taking care of...
Read moreHonestly, we were not very impressed! Prices raised like everywhere else which is understandable, however the quality and quantity of food was WAY down during our visit. Lady was at our table one time to get our drink orders and was never back after bringing us our drink. no refills, didn't clear off finished items off of our table. The buffet was half empty, there was only a few pieces of each item that was left on the buffet and those items were not very good. We asked if we could get more of an item that was out and they never refilled it. Meanwhile they were cooking and bringing out pounds and pounds of crab legs to the other side of the restaurant to all the employees and their family members that were sitting there. We asked if we could get some on the buffet and they said that they don't serve them there, which was a bit confusing since they were cooking them there. Had to refill our own drinks because we were not able to get the attention of our waitress or any other employee for that matter and when we did, no one ever came to our table. When we were finished and went to pay, we were then informed that the reason why the buffet was so low on food and our poor service was due to the fact that it was the Chinese new year! Happy new year to you all! However, if you are going to have poor selection and poor service, close your business...
Read moreI go here a LOT and bring all my friends here! Mings is the BEST value in the region for a Chinese Buffet. Their Sushi is all you can eat and at minimum grocery store quality and better than any other sushi at buffets I've had. Why would anyone eat grocery store sushi when you could get all you can eat PLUS a full Chinese buffet and grill for half the cost to fill yourself up? Their Crab Rangoons are handmade with thin wonton wrappers unlike the bready ones you get most Chinese restaurants and the same is true for their wontons - their fried and steamed wontons are some of the best I've had. The selection of the buffet has something for everyone and the quality is as high if not higher than take out. My only, and I do mean only negative point is their General Tso's is the only subpar item :-( (not crispy / big pieces / too soggy) but the Sesame and Honey Chicken and all other items are always on point, crispy and saucy and most importantly - not excessive breading like most other buffets - the meat / breading ratio is perfect. Even their honey shrimp is thin and crispy breading, flavorful and not hidden in a ball of dough like other buffets. Overall, I will drive out of my way to go to Ming's, and highly recommend as the best buffet...
