Two weeks ago, I purchased a Razer Blade 15 from the store for over $1,000. Additionally, I paid $150 for a 1-year warranty. In this short amount of time, the display completely died, and after exhaustive troubleshooting, I had to bring it in.
They confirmed that it was defective and was only going to get in-store credit for a laptop that I bought 2 weeks ago. I said that I would instead just like a refund, like any other reputable business and regular return policy.
They claimed that it would fulfill the $150 warranty and then I would only get a refund for the difference. In essence, I was penalized $150 because I was sold a broken product within 2 weeks.
I understand that this is the store’s policy, but how is that even ethical from a business perspective? I was told by an employee, “anywhere else you go, you don’t get the cost back from the warranty.” Well of course you don’t, but you would if it was broken within 2 weeks because most businesses in 2024 have a standard return policy!
Overall, I am so disappointed in my experiences at this store, and I will be filing a dispute with my credit card company to receive a refund for the difference.
EDIT: I was contacted by the owner and was offered a refund for the difference, so I’m glad it was made right. However, the employee on the phone claimed that he wasn’t aware of the new policy, so there seems to be some disconnect there. Overall I would still be careful buying high dollar...
Read moreBought two old Pokemon games (Red and Silver) from this location. Tested the games when I got home, one would save, one would not. Lucky for me, I was able to find someone who can put a new save battery in (I live an hour away, so going back would cost me more than the $10 to buy 5 new batteries). However, when they opened the case, they found the save battery was TAPED into the cartridge. Now I'm fairly certain Mega Replay wouldn't have purchased the game without the knowledge that the save battery wasn't soldered in place. Maybe they could have, but I doubt it. So just be careful buying old games from here, especially if you're like me and have to travel for retro games. I would like to believe this was just a mistake but I was also warned of shady practices regarding the save batteries at this location (they tried to charge someone I know to install a new battery because by the time they ordered the batteries and got them in the 30-day warranty had expired) before I purchased the games, so it would seem this isn't a...
