First timer here; it was a pleasant experience. The shop itself is small but loaded with treats from wall to wall! The three people in my party were separate paying customers, and we felt like we were in the way when other customers came in because we wanted to shop a bit, wanting to take it all in since we live an hour and a half away. I did my research on Google before visiting, and I knew of the coupon on their website stating "10% off bread on Wednesday"; so by all means make sure to check the site daily as coupons change, and make sure to mention the coupon because I didn't know I had to and I didn't receive my $1 off (making my loaf the full $10.00). My party and I spent a decent amount of time there (and a decent amount of money) even after our breakfast at the 50's Diner! LeBakery should sample their bread for customers because it is superior! My group headed to Hyvee (after visiting Pottstown also -- while we were here), and at Hyvee, we found a Vienna loaf for $3, so I purchased it also. We did a taste-test, slice for slice, Le Bakery won for freshness, it was 'pillowy' and airy; it had the perfect bake time, and the crust was flavorful and not overdone; it had a great chew; and the flavor was authentic. Was it worth $7 more dollars than HyVee? Perhaps on a special occasion. I support small business, but they could also support their customers by A.) honoring the coupon they advertise and B.) Posting the prices and don't seem agitated when we ask for clarity, (in my case, I didn't know how much until I read the receipt -- I don't like to have to ask) and C.) Samples! The bread will sell itself! (They could collaborate and cross advertise with the "Olio and Vino" shop (also pricey but highly recommend)!. As for customer service: the gentleman at LeBakery was attentive and he offered to cut my bread, which I was very pleased to have as an option. He took care of all of my members, and two random customers that came in after without making anyone feeling overlooked or less important even before the lady attendant came to back him up. On the other hand, Hyvee has similar customer service, but more people available to serve, and yet somehow I can still can feel as if I'm bumped or overlooked when just one more customer shows up to Hyvee's counter. Strange. I will visit again while I'm in the area for procedures at OSF. ALL of the shops in this plaza were worth a visit, certainly raised my spirits! LeBakery helped set the bar; I...

I’ve always known this place was here but I want to say that they only recently expanded out into having a cafe attached to the bakery. Maria hit me up for some coffee once I was back from Colorado and suggested we stop in here for caffeine and maybe some baked goodies.
The coffee menu here is small so don’t expect a full-fledged menu to order something fancy. I settled on a brown sugar cinnamon iced coffee. While ordering it, the barista asked if I wanted it as a cold brew and I said yes. But once I got my coffee and started sipping on it, I knew it wasn’t an actual cold brew and it was just an iced coffee. While not a big deal, I wasn’t a big fan of the drink as a whole. Somehow a cold version of brown sugar cinnamon just isn’t that good, in my opinion. Maria got a drink, too, and agreed. She let me try her drink and I found it even less favorable than mine.
While sitting there and catching up on the last few weeks, I got a snickerdoodle cookie to snack on since I didn’t eat breakfast. For where the coffee was lacking the cookie more than made up for it. The snickerdoodle was soft and chewy and tasted just right. For as big as it was, I could’ve gone for another one, easily. At about $2 a piece, it’s worth every penny. Maria got a quiche breakfast meal and some cinnamon bread while we were there. She said the meal was pretty tasty but didn’t realize she ordered a meal instead of just a piece of quiche.
The bakery, cafe, and staff are all very nice. Everything seems freshly painted and the general vibe was nice and clean. Its a bummer the coffee was lackluster but that may have just been the combination that we ordered. I would be willing to give it another shot should we come back (which is likely since Maria mentioned...
Read moreI was so excited to come and pick up pastries for my Thanksgiving dinner. I cannot tell you how disappointed I was with the end results. This is the 1st year, in over 20 years of hosting Thanksgiving dinner, that I have moved from using Trefzger's to Le Bakery. I had really enjoyed LaBakery's products over the past year. I find their pastries delicious, creative and unique. I promoted the business to others all the time! I was really looking forward to serving turkey sugar cookies to my nieces & nephews. I had previously purchased some for a school function & received rave reviews.
When I arrived to pick up my preordered cookies, imagine my disappointment when the cookies didn't look like the ones I had originally ordered. I was so disappointed that my only options were to upsell me to cookies that were $3 a piece or not have anything to serve the young ones at my festivities. When I asked the employee why the cookies looked different she just said that you have been cooking a wide variety over the holiday. She didn't have any other options available to me as you were not cooking that day.
I was so disappointed and heartbroken. The decorated sugar cookies are not as bright or colorful. It is a thinner cookie with less icing. Just a less impressive looking dessert. They were not good tasting. They were dry and crumbling. Definitely makes me rethink my future purchases.
My advice...stick with Trefzger's! They are always serving quality products with a smile!
I did reach out to ownership regarding my issue. I received...
