Overall, this is a great store for table top and card game enthusiasts. They have a great selection of Warhammer, D&D figures, MTG, and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. It also has a pretty great community of people that participate in events and interact with each other. I've been a loyal customer for a few years now with my partner and we've both easily spent a few thousand dollars. At this point you may be wondering why I'm leaving a 3 star review if I have so many nice things to say. Truthfully, that is because of their no returns policy. While I understand it is a necessary policy for the majority of their inventory I believe they should make an exception for un-opened and un-damaged products espically within a few day period.
I say this because my partner recently bought me a rather expensive Christmas gift and I loved that he thought of me but truthfully I absolutely hated the gift. It was definitely just a cash grab created by the creators of the product and is only selling because it's a big name. My partner brought it home and I ended up completely distraught because of my extreme dislike of it especially since it was a few hundred dollars. He called the next day and asked if he could return it as it had been less then a day since he bought it we hadn't even opened it but he was quickly shot down, even when he said he'd happily just accept a store credit so that the store would still get our money and we could get something we'd actually enjoy and would use.
Anyway, my point is if you are planning to buy a gift for someone from here and it isn't an specific card for game or a gift card and it costs a pretty penny do yourself a favor and buy it from somewhere with a return policy. This experience has really crushed me, as I really thought of this place as a community and business I could trust but now I'm just heartbroken and I don't plan to ever step foot in this establishment again.
Please take my review with a grain of salt since my opinion is obviously tainted at this point. Just use my story as a warning and really consider your purchases, especially if you are living paycheck to paycheck and every little bit counts. Trust me it makes it feel 100% worse when the money wasted could have been used for groceries or hell even other products you'd rather of had...
Read moreLarge selection of Hobby gaming. Lots of material breadth like some have described, Tabletop wargaming like Warhammer, 40k, Conquest, Bolt Action, OPR, a decent selection of Board games, TCGs like Magic, Pokemon, Lorcana, Digimon, One Piece, and lots of YU-GI-OH!. Tons of Dice, Minis, Source Books and accessories for D&D, Pathfinder and other RPGs.
Great place spaces for gaming including professionally painted murals and banners on the walls. A private room is available for rental that has a Wyrmwood table with TV inside. One side of the store (with most of the play space) is actually open 24/7 based on a subscription service as a "club" like environment. Want to meet after midnight with some friends for a game of Vampire? This is for you.
Very community focused store that hires from within. The owners Brandon and Edwin and their employees are all Gamers of one stripe or another. I've seen some reviews that say the focus isn't always on the counter and this might be true at some points if the staff is running large events or working on fulfilling their online sales further back in the play area, but is not typical. Byron the store manager is very customer service oriented and friendly and can help take care of any issues.
Organization can be haphazard sometimes as they order TONs of material to support new releases and there is only so much storage space. This is pretty common in the industry since it rewards convenience of being able to buy something right away instead of ordering on Amazon. That being said, they are constantly improving and have recently added more display cases for their large amount of pre-owned tabletop miniatures and TCGs.
TLDR; BG2BG is a great place to buy and play games. Their largest focus is probably on Wargaming and Yu-Gi-Oh, but depending on the day you can find large amounts of folks playing multiple other games like Magic board...
Read moreFirst off: My boyfriend is VERY interested in Marvel Crisis Protocol. We're on vacation and where we actually live, the selections are very little. We went to a game store named Freedom who was selling Marvel Crisis Protocol but they still had a small selection (Their marvel was 50% off so we bought a handful) They were also very nice!! But since they had a limited amount, i asked them for a suggestion and they suggested Battlegrounds to Board games. Based on the review pictures, we were VERY unsure of going. We didn't think they'd have what we want because the review pictures were all about cards. Well, we gave it a chance. Not only did they have PLENTY of Marvel Crisis Protocol, but they also had playing mats!! We've looked FOREVER for the mats (if you play, you'll know the mats are hard to find). The guys there were extremely nice and very friendly!! We felt so comfortable to ask questions and to just chit chat. They had a wide selection of a bunch of stuff!! From terrain, to other games, to cards, to paints, to so much more! They also said they play every Friday night! Very good store. I Definitely suggest it! p.s. i liked their fire...
