Opera House Collective — Local services in Petaluma

If I could give this store negative stars, I would. My friends and I constantly support this store. It’s one of our favorites around here. Today my friends and I drove an hour to go shop at opera house collective, and at first we were having a good experience. We were looking around for clothes and decided that we had enough to go try on some. We tried on the clothes that we picked out in the changing room, and two of us decided to look for more after we were done. My friend was still trying on her clothes when the blonde women(probably in her 40s/50s) working at the desk came to the curtain, forcing my friend to hurry up. This wasn’t the only time she harassed my friend around the store. My friend kindly helped the women clean the dressing room (which had majority of clothes from other customers). After, my friend decided to look for more clothes since the store has so many sections! When looking in the mirror in the back of the store and deciding what she was going to get, the women started to walk around my friend, nearly stalking her, and then went up too her(after four times of walking around my friend) and said if she could take any clothes that she wasn’t going to buy with attitude. I witnessed this women treat my friend in a rude manner and I was fed up. I wanted to get out of the store right away. My friend finally knew what she wanted, and we went up to the cashier. When putting her clothes on the counter, the women looked at my friend, and accused her of stealing. She then demanded to look in her bag, and of course there was NOTHING in her bag. We would never steal. PERIOD. When the women noticed that she was wrong, she decided to lighten up a bit, cracking a joke, because it literally took her 10 minutes to scan the price tags. When we left the store we were mortified. I honestly don’t think I will ever shop at this store again, especially if this women is going to be there. P.s. I’ve been here a handful of times and never had any issues with the people who work here but today for some reason the blonde girl with hardly any personality wanted to give me a hard time and constantly give me bad looks. Finally at the register I said, “This is my sweatshirt”because she was looking at me like I stole the sweatshirt. She responds with, “I know that’s yours but what about your backpack?”I said, “This is my backpack and FYI this is a Diaper Bag/Backpack and this backpack doesn’t belong to you.” She said, “No why wasn’t it put back behind the register?” I said, “I’ve never been asked to put my backpack behind the register ever”. And I start opening my 150 Diaper bag/backpack so she could see I have nothing inside that belongs to the store. What do you know, I only had my belongings in it. I think it was super rude and out of line. Considering the amount of items I tried on in the dressing room, I came back out with every single item that I went in with plus they have sensors on their clothes. Hello? I don’t feel safe with my backpack being not with me and behind the register. Just because the employees have it behind the register doesn’t mean it’s safe. Some employees aren’t honest and truthful and would love the chance to be able to go through a customers personal belongings and take what they feel they can get away with. My 16 year old pop into this shop while my partner and I were at the bookstore. She sent us a text letting us know she found some items so I came over to purchase them. I walked in and found my daughter and we reviewed the items and she wanted to shop some more so I went to the front of the store. The white woman then asked me to leave my purse/backpack unattended at the register and I expressed not feeling comfortable with leaving it and all my money. She then went on to say she always asks people “with large bags” to leave them. As I walked out two ladies came in with large bags and they didn’t say a word. I’m 9+ months pregnant and was beyond racially profiled. I will not be supporting this business ever and I’m extremely disappointed to have received this treatment. I will be following up with...
