I have been an Aldi shopper for a very long time. I rave about them any chance I get mainly because of their prices and how quick the checkout can be. But this location has absolutely put a disgustingly sour taste in my mouth. Granted, every experience is different. This is mine. I had gathered up at least four bags worth of groceries came to the checkout and I read an open sign that stated an associate will be with me, Start unloading your groceries now. I was going to do that until an associate looked at me and asked if I was using card or cash. I responded card and this associate proceeded to tell me to use self-checkout. I 100% understand that self-checkout is very convenient. However, only convenient to those who have roughly 20 items or less. If you have an entire grocery list meant for your family but you are forced to use self-checkout not only have you now increased the time of you being there which can cause you to be late for other things, but now you are a temporary employee for Aldi. If I am not getting paid for doing a cashier's job then why are you forcing myself, A person who is trying to fill out a grocery list for my family, to use self-checkout?
With that experience being said, I will no longer shop at this location and I will stick with other Aldi locations.
And again, allow me to be very clear, I don't mind self-checkout if it's reasonable. What rubbed me the wrong way was that you can clearly tell I had a lot of groceries. So to help me speed my process up would it be a problem if the cashier according to the sign that was in green helped me with my checkout?
I will no longer be attending this Aldi location instead. I will go to other locations. However, if more and more self-checkout stations keep popping up I will cease shopping at...
Read moreThere was a lady at the cashier with bright green and blue hair — and she was as rude and unprofessional as you could possibly imagine. My 5-year-old son was standing in line while I stepped aside for just a moment to check on another item. He didn’t put the hot dog buns — the only thing we were buying — on the belt, so the customer’s items behind us moved ahead.
When I came back, I politely told the cashier that those weren’t my items and showed her the buns. Instead of handling it kindly or even neutrally, she immediately gave me this exaggerated, sarcastic smirk — the kind that screams mockery and disrespect. Then, in the most condescending, patronizing tone, she said, “Yeah… that’s what happens when you don’t put your stuff on the belt.”
Her tone and body language were shocking — she was clearly mocking me, as if I were stupid or beneath her. I calmly explained that there was a small child in line and that her attitude was completely inappropriate. But instead of acknowledging that, she doubled down. Her smirk grew even more fake and insulting, her voice got louder, and she carried on with that nasty, dismissive attitude, as if she was trying to embarrass me in front of everyone.
It was unbelievable to see someone working in customer service behave that way — no kindness, no patience, not even the most basic level of respect. The management of this ALDI location really needs to take a serious look at their hiring and training process. A person with that kind of arrogance, lack of empathy, and complete disregard for customers should not be representing their company. She clearly has no understanding of professionalism, courtesy, or even simple...
Read moreThis Aldi is located on Roosevelt Boulevard near Comly Avenue. They have a small produce section with some very fresh looking fruits and vegetables. You won't find anything too exotic here but they have all the popular produce. All their sections offer a small selection of products but everything looks very good and prices are very reasonable in today's consumer markets. Customer friendly employees and quick checkouts. Bring your own bags although you can pay for there's. I particularly like there deli for cheeses at...
