Followup to earlier negative review. A new service company came and discovered that Field Tech not only didnt fix the problem, they never even investigated sufficiently nor were they prepared by bringing all necessary parts. Suffice it to say Field Tech did a half-assed job that fell far short of doing the right thing. To say it was amateurish would be an understatment. They clearly did not know how to fix the problem. The new service people came prepared and now have installed our FOURTH motherboard in a six year old refrigerator and our third new icemaker. Pitiful on all accounts, but Field Tech was the worst of the three different companies to come here.
Original review: I've been struggling all day to find the appropriate words to describe this company. So far I have considered rude, irresponsible, utterly disorganized, hostile scheduling person, totally indifferent to even the most ordinary protocals for scheduling, unreasonable, incompetent, etc.. I've finally settled on all of the above. When they "schedule" a visit, they give a "window" of 8AM to 5PM. When you ask for a more specific window such as morning or afternoon, they won't give one. They expect you to hang around all day. I've never had that experience with any other company. When via text they asked me if I were available the next day and I replied I was waiting for word from Samsung and couldn't commit yet, they scheduled me without my OK or knowledge and the next monring at around 10:20AM the tech called to say he was on the way...WHILE I WAS NOT HOME. I told him I would be home in half an hour and I never heard from let alone saw him after that. That half hour turned into five hours and counting, and despite several texts to him and his parent company asking for his wherabouts and schedule, the only reply I received hours later from the scheduler was "Please wait." Wait?!! That's all I do with them. I said I needed to hear from them by 3:45PM (our building does not allow any contractors in after 4:30) but they didn't reply. Earlier reviewers have warned people to avoid this company like the plague. I think the plague would be far less aggravating and injurious to one's health. Like many before me, I would give no stars or negative ones were...
Read moreI must admit I was not optimistic when Assurant assigned these guys to repair my 3 year old GE fridge whose LED interior lights were not working after reading all the horrible reviews. I nearly called to cancel honestly but it was a minor issue and I figured I'd try it. The address for them was in Southampton only a few miles away. They seem to have another location in Philadelphia as well. I received an email from Assurant advising Field Tech was assigned and should be contacting me. Shortly thereafter I received a text from Field Tech asking to confirm my appointment for the next day which was today. I confirmed. The window was 10am to 6pm. Around 230 I got a phone call from an unknown number. It was the tech advising me he'd be out in 25 minutes. He arrived on time and looked at my lights. He agreed that one had likely burned out and that was was keeping them all from working. He said he didn't have the part with him but could order it. He said he would order it and be back in about 7 or 8 days to install it OR he could send it right to me and I could install it myself. I was totally comfortable with that and it made more sense than to have to spend another day waiting for them to come out for a 2 minute job. I will say I fix most things on my own and never ever ever buy extended warranties, but after the last piece of junk LG fridge I had, I was t taking any chances. Hoping that this fridge lasts longer and hopeful that if I have any further issues that Field Tech will deliver...
Read moreTerrible service! We just bought a new refrigerator and the one door has to be replaced. A new door was shipped to us. A manager from Field Tech kept texting and calling (one right after the other) until I responded so we could schedule an appointment. Tech came out and told my husband that if he damages the new door while installing the original ice maker into the door then too bad. We'd be stuck with two damaged doors. Advised that we keep the original door on the fridge and he'd mark the visit as complete. Then said we could sell the new door online for $200 or so and keep the money. WTH? The tech left and I ended up calling his boss who scheduled the appointment. I told him what happened and his only offer was to reschedule the appointment with the same tech. He said the tech would be responsible for any damage to the new door. "He will have to pay for it." The whole thing sounds shady to me. We rescheduled and the tech was supposed to be here today between 9am and 1pm. He called at 1:35pm to say he was an hour and a half away. Again, WTH? I told him not to bother. Called his boss again and the guy didn't seem concerned about his tech, what the tech said or the fact that he's running really late. Oh, and this tech is the only one who services this entire area, including Philly and Delaware. Forget it. I'd had enough. Called LG and got another service tech company scheduled...
