Anytime Fitness? More like Nevertime Cleanliness. The gym has the equipment I need and is conveniently accessible. The downstairs area has four squat racks, so I very rarely find myself waiting. But the gym, especially the downstairs area, is absolutely filthy. There is, as far as I can tell, no fresh air coming into the downstairs gym, so it's just the same nasty, body-odor, fart-laden air today that there was six months ago. This was especially a problem in the summer when the AC unit kept breaking. The stale, still, sweat-filled air and crippling heat made workouts utterly miserable. Please, please, please buy a fan so the air moves! Recently, the water filter sprung a leak and soaked the floor mats. The solution was apparently to sprinkle baking soda all over? Again, they couldn't even bring in a fan to help dry things out! So there's damp baking soda all over, and it still has a persistent mildew smell. Heaven knows what's growing in my lungs now. Nasty! More days than not, I walk in to find food scattered over the gym. People are bringing takeout into the gym, and tossing it on the furniture, equipment, or floor. Management doesn't seem to care.

DO NOT join this gym unless: 1. You like working out in 83 degree temps because the AC is broken. 2. You like beginning every workout by having to clean up the gym, re-rack everyone's weights, and move equipment left in the middle of the gym by others (see pic). 3. You like using broken/snapped bands. 4. You like hunting around for cable machine handles that used to be part of the equipment but have disappeared, or want to use two 70lb kettlebells but nope, they only have one now! 5. You like asking people who are most likely, and unfortunately, homeless, if you can use the equipment that they are sitting on while they charge their phone and have no intention of working out. 8. You like calling phone numbers with overfull voice mail boxes, emailing and texting staff who ultimately ghost and avoid you to try to get resolution on why they keep charging your college-aged son's account that should have been frozen while he was away. If you like any of these, this is the gym for you!

TINY - MISLEADING - RUDE MANAGEMENT I just moved to the area and signed up for the 7-day trial, received 3 emails confirming my trial. When I arrived to the gym, it was so tiny, very little cardio equipment, already busy and I was told they could not honor the 7-day pass received by email. Ali was very apologetic and called his manager/owner who refused to speak with me and told him to not allow me to try out the gym for 7 days. They are misleading with their confirmation emails and there is no disclaimer or fine prints saying this location does not offer the pass. They refused to allow me to try the gym for a week and chose to a customer. Never experienced such stiff and poor customer service. I also feel sorry for Ali for working for such a badly managed gym. Picture to prove the email sent confirming the pass that was denied in person. Refusing to speak to guests is not proof of taking care of your members.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM

As a previous member of this gym from September of 2020 until 2024, I am OBLIGATED to warm anybody about the shell of an establishment this place has become.

The headline is this: the gym’s ownership has changed hands and the new management and owners have no interest in keeping this gym clean, welcoming, or usable at all.

When I originally joined this gym, I was blessed to experience the facility under its old owners and the manager, Casey, who oversaw the gym. During my time, the gym grew significantly in membership, and management decided to reinvest into the gym and expand it, creating a beautiful ground floor expansion while maintaining the original second floor facility and even upgrading and modernizing it.

However, I began to notice the changes in late 2023 after familiar staff had started to disappear and Casey was nowhere to be seen. I only found out when I cancelled my membership that the original franchisees were no longer involved in the gym and Anytime Fitness’s parent company now runs the business.

Since the transition, the gym is nearly always without sanitizing wipes, spray bottles and paper towels. The gym mats are lathered in sweat since there’s no way to clean them. The equipment is filthy, the floors are sticky, and the new staff is invisible.

A dry-erase board greets you in the second floor gym where everyone leaves their bags and coats. What used to be a fun community board with drawings and encouragement from other members has turned into a public complaint bulletin. How has the management responded to the complaints and pleads of its members? They cleared off the board entirely and removed the markers. Ignorance is bliss.

The final straw for me was on my last visit to this wasteland. I go to put my coat away near the dry erase board and notice that my previous comment pleading for the paper towels and soap spray to be restocked in the studio room where everybody works out and stretches, was erased along with the other comments. For a moment I had a glimmer of hope. I thought to myself, ā€œthey must have addressed the complaints and restocked the cleaning supplies!ā€

Imagine my shock when i walk into the studio ready to start my workout and there are no cleaning supplies in the gym at all. No wipes, no paper towels, no soap spray. Every single one of the gym mats had visible spots of caked in sweat and grime. I decided i’ll just skip the mats and stretch on the floor. When i walked over to a free spot, my sneakers were literally sticking to the ground.

I stretched standing up and worked my way over to the treadmills by the windows, only to find that the 3 treadmills, elliptical, stairmaster, and jacobs ladder machines were all broken. The entire row of machines were plugged in, and no power.

Disgusted by the gym itself and knowing that i’m still burning $60/month on this dump, I walked to the front office and told the staffer present to cancel my membership. This is the one and only thing the new staff seems to know what to do because that cancellation form was signed and sealed almost immediately. I can only imagine how many others have already left for the staff to be so skilled at getting us out of the door.

Overall, go shell out the extra $5-$15/month at city fitness down the street, or even retro fitness in Spring Garden. This place is just taking money until enough people cancel that it’s no longer profitable. And if you’re thinking about joining...

Don't join this gym.

Door is broken for the bottom half of the gym. So it's been locked sometimes and other times there have seemingly been people sleeping there. Still no wipes (management fails to order ahead, creating a serious health hazard(

It's recently become one of the worst gym experiences I've ever had. Maybe this will get another cookie cutter, vague response from management.

The gym has been filthy and lacking in supplies for months now. Usually either wipes, or paper towels are missing for some/all areas. This is unacceptable especially when staff members are sitting right there. With the money being paid to the gym by each member, management can send someone down to Rite -Aid 3 blocks away...

Now in the last week, the downstairs section has been locked. That section makes up about 2/5 of the usable space for the gym, and it's just sitting there locked. I called and asked about it, and the employee who answered was rude and then lied to me and told me that it was open. There's no reason that they can't get a door open for an entire week. This is one of the largest cities in the US and you can't find a locksmith or handyman to open a door for an entire week?!

Like someone else said, other little things have degraded like the clocks are all wrong or they are off altogether.

And there is a board that used to have interactive messages for members like "what's your favorite lift?" or "what's your fitness goal for the summer?". But now they removed all the markers and use it to promote their training because people were writing complaints on the board. So instead of addressing the problem, they took away the markers which used to be the one "community" thing about the gym. Weak. This is a terrible way to go with City Fitness opening nearby and frankly it's all grounds to break a contract with this gym considering the lack of access and sanitation, if it continues like this.

The people working here or who own the gym don't seem to take any pride in their work at all to let it go...

I have had countless issues with this gym and its membership services. First, I was told when I moved into the apartment above it that I would receive a discounted membership. This was a big perk to the building, and when I went to apply for the gym membership they told me they no longer offered that promotion. My landlord had no idea the gym stopped offering. I moved away in late September, and have been trying to cancel my membership since then. I was told my account was frozen and would not be charged while I gathered the appropriate change of address information needed to cancel my membership. I have been charged every two weeks since, despite having multiple correspondences that my account was frozen. Management tried to tell me I couldn’t cancel my account even though I met the requirements for moving 25 miles from this gym location and not within 5 miles of any other Anytime Fitness. After another week of emailing everyday, I finally received a call and contract terminating my membership. However, I am still being charged. I asked multiple times for the name and phone number of the supervisor of the person I had been in coordination with (who was helpful to an extent) but never received ā€œhigher upsā€ information to try to resolve my issues. This has been nothing but a headache. I recommend joining any other gym in the area, planet fitness or retro for similar equipment at a lower price and less...
